Vergne, at the Abu Dhabi test was setting times VERY close to Vettel in the RB7.

That's all you need to know.

During pre season testing, Ricciardo set a faster time than Vettel in last years car. (may have been 2 years ago). It doesn't really mean a thing.

^ That was last years young driver test. But from memory I read somewhere that they take all the bollards out from the chicanes & apexes after the race, so Ricciardo & Vergne could cut the corners a bit more in the young driver test than everyone else in the race.
