I might not fire you for doing a little test pull but you sure as hell would get written up.
I would however fire you for bragging about it and posting pictures of a clients car on the internet.

there are only 2 cars that are allowed to be beat on
    1. Rentals (ours not the customers)
    2. Company Cars.

Anything else and you are in some shit. Drive it as if the owner was in the passenger seat. Hell I've even gotten into some deep talks with M5 owners who have allowed me to show them what their car is capable of. You never know, but it being a service industry you need to be respectful of others property that 650 could retail for north of 100,000 and learn to kiss ass and be respectful.

I don't see the reason to brag, post, w/e you did. All you did was create entertainment for us to flame you and again re assure us that most valets will drive a car with out much care.

Then again, I remember when a guy pulled up in a 911 turbo, and refused to let us park it telling us "I was a valet when I was your age, and there's no f**n chance you'll park this"

Then he gave me a 5'r for giving him the code to the valet lot so he could park his own car.

Mainly the thing I remember most about being a valet / bell boy was the old ladies who would tip you 50 cents to park their bentleys and the guys who would give you a $5 or a beer to park their corrolla. Every other prick in between who gave me a dollar and told me to keep his buick "close by", or be careful with his grand am got a lot of shit talked about them.

My mother was a waitress and taught me early on that to hedge the chances of spit in my food, dirty linens in the hotel, or having your tires peeled out in a valet lot --tip well. These jobs suck and pay shit, the nice, more empathetic and more generous you can be -- the better your service.

I completely agree with you. I was a valet for years growing up, and after working at some of the most swanky places in LI you really have a change of heart. Most all these people disrespectful, inconsiderate assholes, they dont give half a shit about there cars. I wish i could count how many times i've had 911 turbos pull up grinding every gear. Nicer the car = lower the tip, real people understand the decency of tipping and i would get more from the guy in the Maxima than the guy in the Bentley.

If you really care about your car don't valet it!!! (its not worth the chance)
Most valets are between 17-23 guys... How many people here would let there friends at this age drive there car?? I trust my friends and rarely would let them drive my cars.

I've had people with really nice cars that care about them let me park them. For example a guy had a fully built b20turbo hatch 400+ hp hatch, guys with older Ferrari's etc etc, and i took the utmost care in parking his car because i could tell it was his pride and joy. Sure i went over with friends while working and admired it from the outside but i didnt take it for a joy ride. I've also had guys in 911's pull up and be complete assholes to me. So then maybe i don't feel so bad about properly opening up that car...

Thats my 2 cents and i know i'll catch some heat for it, but just speaking the truth.

You certainly have a valid point, although it still isn't your decision to make. The only time I will ever beat on a car is if I have the expressed permission to. I have test driven cars, raced someone else's vehicle, and driven cars for detailing, repairs, chauffeur, etc. If I had ever beat on a car and a client found out I would have lost that job and probably half of my other clients.

I have two levels of respect for any property. Mine and not mine. You can guess which one gets taken care of better.

Ill park my own car. Kthnx. I dont think what the OP did is horrible. I can't imagine some douchebags i work with at my little retail job would do. But OP didnt do a horrible thing.

Yeah def agree with you. I just know that after working with a handful of different valets when i was younger that most of them where pretty grimey. I recall kids stealing everything from cds/coins out of the cup holder, doing donuts in a viper scouring the car for money. I myself never did that kinda shit but if i saw it all the time i'm sure it still goes on. Its always nice to assume the best of people but its not the result you get all the time. You're just handing over the keys to your huge investment so its a large risk.

I have personally had several incidents in the valet world. I once had to park cars at a vineyard. A few half drunk girls pulled up in a real beat up e36 318 (looked like it had been in a recent front end collision). I went to park the car in the grass lot and as I was hitting the break it swung wide because the car was uncared for and fility inside the floor mat had ridden up over the gas pedal and under the break. So as i went to push the break down it was also pushing down the accelerator causing me to spin in the grass and put the front end under the bumper of a jeep. Worried i immediately told my boss... They went over and cleaned off both bumpers and told me "just pull them up fast cause once they pull of the lot we are no longer liable"...

If you want it done right, do it yourself.
