It could be that the laws in WV are different or perhaps your particular insurer had some other restrictions/exceptions.

    Sucks you got shafted.

That's why I would encourage all you guys/gals to ACTUALLY READ your policy when they send it to you, or swing by your agent's office and pickup a copy of the policy.

Many people fall into a false sense of security that insurance will just cover any and everything.

Remember when you buy insurance, it's really a contract, which is why you should read the policy. It amounts to "I agree to pay company X, for the coverage provided in policy Y." By paying for the policy you are voluntarily accepting the conditions of the contract.

Most policies now awaydays have eliminated most of the "legalese" so they are readable to normal people. However, I'd be happy to help with any questions, or you can always just ask your agent for clarification on things.

Your not being unreasonable. I had my agent fight his own company (allstate) to get me a transmission for my 94 e36 325i. It went into failsafe mode and would reset. It wasnt our fault the guy went into my wifes lane and hit her on a turn. He had no insurance,no drivers license and the car was registered to somebody out of state. Cops let him walk away. They did cover all the body work with no problems. I did end up getting my transmission from bmw though and they paid for it.;) Sometimes up have to push alittle to get what you want.

I think what z31 is trying to get across is that an E30 has reached a point where insuring one can be a tricky thing to do. I'm not sure how much 'normal' insurance would cost for it, but I have a good enough relationship with my agent that I could call him on Monday and ask him. From basic liability only to full coverage. What the pay out would be if something were to happen to it.

Keep in mind, any modifications and upgrades you do to your car mean nothing to the insurance company unless you tell them. Your policy is based on their assumption the car is worth a certain value. If you believe that value is inadequate, then it is up to you to tell them. And you must tell them before you make a claim, not after. Yes, you will pay more. That is the nature of business.

To put so much money and effort into a car and then to only carry the minimum insurance on it is financially irresponsible.

Im all about having common sense and having everyone carry insurance, but they (the insurance companies) have made it into a whole other game altogether. People regularly get their premiums raised over "incidents" that are not their fault after having 10 years of clean driving. They also regularly and consistently try to severely lowball their own client as regards to the market value of the cars they are paid to insure..... which is the whole point of their existence, yes?

How about we dont be dumbass about this. Apparently you do not understand the overall objective and liabilities/exposure insurance companies have. Im not saying they do a public service, for no profit, but they are legally restricted to how much they can charge im premiums, denial criteria and a whole slew of principles that make it fairly hard for an insurance company to make a profit, without capital investment.

Problem these days is everyone wants to screw the insurance companies because they perceive them to be the enemy. Well, they arent. If there was not so much fraud running rampant, premiums and other costs to the consumer and to the insurance company would be greatly reduced.

Of course, the fact no one these days studies or researches anything before they form an opinion dosent help. If you do some of each you will discover that most of you are grossly misinformed.

But I cant do anything about that. So Ill sit back and just "agree to disagree". :)

yeah I was with farmers insurance for 10+ years with a clean record. Notice my rates vary from $70-100 every month. Asked my insurance agent WTF. He could not give me a straight answer...said it was due to market conditions...I switched ins companies after being such a long customer.

Most recently, STATE FARM played games with me when I was rear ended. Did not replace my rear panel bc fucktard adjuster said that was unnecessary...well now the panel is bondoed....decreasing value of my mtech. Also STATE FARM would not pay for my fucked driveshaft stating it was not related to the accident.

I was in a really bad mood when I posted this. My apologies for the aggression. I still agree to disagree, though.

can't really comment about e30s and insurance, but at my work, I work on accident new BMWs everyday. I can confirm, insurance companies are the enemy, they are even more crooked than all the shops that repair the cars. It is a battle of who can cheat the most money out of the other! I could type for days about the crap I have to deal with. screw the insurance companies, just open your eyes and look how rich they all are-- you only get rich by cheating!

Thats standard procedure. "Local" varies per car. Local for a 99 toyota camry means 50 miles. Local for a mclarenf1 would be the entire continent.
