    Supporting "OUR" Troops

Hi everyone! I am curious to know how many of us are in the military. If you are currently serving or know of a member who is. You know how important the support is. I propose that we as a E30 family take care of our own. What do I mean by this? Care packages!! Sounds like something church groups and old ladies do right? But take it from me recieving those boxes while you are stationed in a hell hole half way around the world, it makes a huge difference. We need to find out who is actually in a combat area at this moment and get together a care package for them. Items that can be included pretty much unlimited, except for porn and alcohol. I wouldnt include anything that could be damaged by extreme cold or heat or anything that will decay in less than 2 weeks, or anything that needs cold storage. I will act as the sender if anyone wants to contribute items send them to me or even send money to help purchase something.

IF you are a service member serving in any theater of operations please post your username and current mailing address. I am sure this community will assist me in my support of my brothers and sisters.

    Currently I know of one:

RainierHooker- please post your mailing address.

Thanks in advance for the support. I look forward to knowing my fellow soldiers and service members. Even if you are retired or simply seperated from service please sound off!

If I had the money, I would definitely help out. If it actually happens later on, I'll do my part.

            This!

When I was over there (4 trips, YUT!) all I wanted to look at were some old car mags and some Maxim/FHM/Stuff. It's hard to read anything more in-depth than a magazine and reading is the best way to pass the time when you're not getting your ass shot at! Helps you dream of what opportunities might be waiting for you upon your return.

I'd be interested in donating some money to a centralized location to buy some supplies. You interested in that?
            Chris

Sounds great guys! Maxim helped me keep my sanity while I was in Iraq!! What I will do is this, as soon as we get an address for some one over there I will post a ship date for the box. I will give a 2-3 week notice so that people can send stuff or help financially. It will be labelled as shipped by "Your friends at R3VLimited". And I will include a short note in the box with everyone's screen name that contributes. Once again all we need now is a name and address.

Ha! Awesome! Yeah dont believe anything your recruiter tells you. I am a Drill Sergeant and I hear some of the craziest things that recruiters tell new soldiers. Any one interested in going into the Army can ask me about it.

Ask him to post his address on this thread once he arrives in country. We will be sure to send him a box or few. Guys I plan on sending more than one box. If you have recently old magazines sitting around that would be great. Dry crackers, single serving folgers coffee (looks like tea bags), Beef jerky, Single serving gatorade dry powder, Sunflower seeds, Basicly anything that would help someone who is really really bored (I read the same Maxim magazines cover to cover multiple times) can use to pass the time. Shelf stable foods that can fit in your pocket are awesome. Simple things like chap stick are good. Even better yet a note from you wishing them well and a safe return, that always hits home. Hell I got a letter from the town hall of a small town in Kentucky signed by the mayor and his staff while I was in Iraq, I have never lived in Kentucky and only drove through it 2 times. Yet that was one of the coolest things I got while I was there. But Magazines and dry food are king!
I still need some one to post an address for a member who is in Afganistan/Iraq.

Thank You for all the support.

Well, isn't this a big ol' box of awkward. ;)

Anyway I'm personally not in need of much. I'm one of the more fortunate ones over here. Due to my position, while I go outside the wire almost every day, I always come back at the end of the mission. That's how I can get on here with all you fine folks (a few members withstanding).

That said, we can always use more reading matterials, I've worn out my fair share of Hemming's various publications, and whatever I don't need I will make sure to pass on, if not to those in my unit, then to the guys that are stuck in some shitty COB/OP or such. That goes for Pokey-bait items too.

I won't be posting my address on this thread directly, nor would I suggest to any other r3v'ers that may be over here. I will send it to one of two trusted members here via PM...

Thanks guys, and again, whatever I can't use I'll be sure to pass on.

For those who don't know Pokey-bait or Pogie-bait or any-bait is food items such as those described above and candys.
Good call on not posting the address directly, I should have known better.

Fellow forum members let's see if we can get this rolling. I have a few magazines I can send over such as Grassroot motorsports and such but, If you have some laying around throw them in a box with a pack of crackers or candy or beef jerky and send it to me. PM me for my address. I will put together a box that I will send out on Feb. 11th. Lets see how this first one goes.

Awkward doesnt even explain it! LOL! Kinda like when a WWII vet tells you he appreciates what you do! That is beyond awkward!
