Air Traffic Control. I might have to PM you on a few things. I always have questions and they give me generic answers. :?

And I could dig up some old (recently old) Roundels and send them out.

ATC is a good job. Do whatever it takes not to wash out of the tech school, and get your credentials as soon as possible. ATC consistently has bonuses for reenlistment which is rare with the economy in the state it is in.

No matter how long it takes, DO NOT accept another job offer that your recruiter might give you. ATC will come up eventually so just tough it out in the DEP program...

Oh just go Security Forces, its what all the cool kids do. (JUST KIDDING, and /end airforce crap)

I'd be willing to throw some stuff together for some folks too. I was AF for 5 years, and overseas for all 5. I know how it is to hate life overseas.

          Word.

I receive monthly issues of Grassroots Motorsport, Classic Motoring and Roundel. Sadly, I usually don't even have time to open them. They often stay shrink wrapped when I give them to my buddies. If anyone who's stationned wants them, I will happily prepare a box and ship directly to an APO address.

Rainerhooker, PM me if you want them.

I have a lot of old car mags, and some fun easy reading books.
Are there things like razors or soap or anything that is hard to get your hands on over there?

Not really, we have personal hygene items stockpiled in our QRF room. We can't even get rid of them by attempting to pass them along to other units. Pretty much the only thing we can't get our hands on, at least at this FOB, is AAA batteries. They're like gold here.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm well aware of the wash out rates for ATC school, but I feel that I am intelligent enough to handle it (not to toot my own horn ;) ) And I'm not really interested in any other job, so I'm pretty persistent about getting ATC.

I'm going to see how much I like my life in the military and maybe make a career out of it. But on the other hand, my fiancee's father does ATC for the FAA and he isn't working paycheck-to-paycheck if you know what I mean, so it's a little tempting to use the military as a stepping stone.

Also, I want to come out of school as an officer so I don't start at the bottom. I slacked a lot in high school, while taking advanced classes, and I know how important this is to my life, and to add, how motivated I am to do everything right with the AF and use it to my advantage.
