It wasn't the frozen locking mechanism that prevented me from opening the door. the door panel literally popped off and was holding down the lock keeping it locked. I dont care if the door froze, its the fact that these fucking door panels fall off. I would find a better way to attach them yet I am constantly fixing my windows.
Buy new door clips...they're $0.79 each and you really only need like 4 good ones to hold it on. Then pull a metal coat hanger out of your closet and insert in between your door/edge protector and you can do anything you want to the interior with the doors closed&locked.
Im just going to replace it with a Japanese car. I haven't had fun driving a car since I've bought bikes so there is no need not to have a reliable car. I take car of my cars too. But having to remove door panels and lube the locking mechanism shouldn't be something I have to do. My 94 Honda doesn't have half the problems my 96 ti does and I take care of them both equally. Maybe I pay more attention the Honda, but still, I don't usually let shit go.
all these people are telling you how to make your door not freeze and that wasnt the real problem.
nah the real problem was the door panel came unhinged and was forcing my car to lock itself despite me trying to unlock it with the remote. the car successfully unlocked itself that morning before the incident.
Fixed it today. Took my time and found a quick easy way for getting the slides into the window. Took me about 5 mins to get the regulator on the window where last year I had to drill an access hole in the driver side door (inside behind the door panel.) Just gotta clean it up and re glue on the door clip mounts to the door panel
I am so glad I saved tons of shit from my old 318ti and didn't sell anything.
