I read in a thread that you cant "rev" a e30 automatic or it will ....
That's old news. It became a problem mostly at smog checks where they would just have the car stationary and rev up the engine for a few minutes. BMW even put out a bulletin about it I believe. Just another reason to get rid of the autotragic in these cars.
I was gonna say, the best way to fix it is to throw a manual in it!
They have a rolling dyno now/well for awhile now for doing smogs. When a tranny is going to start taking a shit is when it wont shift for while when cold untill it warms up(which i am going through at the moment) and or it will slip when changing gears. Give me your unwanted semiautomatic transmission parts !!!! I have owned my car now with an auto for 10 years now. Its a daily/track car and dont plan on changing it.
Mines been doing that wont shift from 1st to 2nd when cold since Ive had it. 3 years now. So I guess its questionable how quickly its going to crap out once it starts that?
My little brother neutral dropped his 87 325i and toasted his transmission. Moral of the story..... Dont try to impress your school friends by neutral dropping a 20yr old autotradgic.

But I did replace the filter, gasket and filled it with Redline ATF. Seems to be holding up on.
Ive also heard to replace the voltage regulator/govener at the output end of the autotragic and it solves most of the problem for a long time.
I mean shit, they use this exact tranny in Land Rovers, it can't suck that bad.
And yes, to all you 5MT swap suggestions, that probably is the best approach, but .... I have a 5MT in my other e30 and like an auto for DD use. Too much traffic in DFW.
