    HELP: 2nd Gear whine

Hey guys, today I noticed a high pitched whine when im in 2nd gear. The car has been having difficulty getting in 3rd since day 1. Do you think it just needs some new transmission fluid? I can use all the advice there is

    Thanks!

That's your only hope really. Put some Redline in it and see if it quiets down and shifts easier.

yeah thats what was recommended to me by a friend who said it worked for him.

Do i have to flush the transmission fluid or just top it off?

Redline would help but just to get a little more info what kind of transmission do you have?

I'm assuming you have a manual, so just drain and refill.

IIRC the G260 takes around 1.75L to fill.

Pro-tip: Remove the "fill" plug before you remove the "drain" plug.

I have a 5-speed manual. Is there a DIY for this? How difficult is it to do in my garage?

Not hard at all here is your diy
                1) jack car up
                2) slide underneath with catch pan
                3) look up at trans
                4) locate large bolt on the passenger side of the transmission it is a 17mm Allen key
                5) remove said bolt
                6) look underneath trans
                7) locate the same size bolt as before
                8) remove bolt
                9) catch fluid
                10) replace bottom bolt
                11) fill trans with new fluid until it comes out the fill hole
                12) replace side bolt
                13) lower car

Where do i replace the trans fluid? Do i have to syphon it from the bottom or is there somewhere to pour it directly in from the engine bay?

You need to use a pump to fill it in the upper plug, the one on the side of the trans.

you get a tube that is about 5 feet long with a funnel. and pour it down from the engine bay.

worst case scenario, there is a guy in the who rebuilds getrag & zf transmissions for 7-800 bucks in the classifieds. he takes your core though so shipping may bite you but it's a good deal. be sure to check your rear output shaft and selector rod seals while you're under there otherwise you'll be replacing the trans fluid again, sooner than later. If you need help with this, pm me and I'll give you directions on how to replace them.
