I think I have one of those "german cars only" Mark D chips for an M50. I got it second or third hand though. Made my car ping though so I took it out.

Same here. Bought a red lable 413 and chip for 200 from Bruce Smith. He didn't let me know it was a copy until after the sell. Was an ass after the fact as well. I looked him up and there's a Bruce Smith that is the head of California BMWSCCA or something. Would have to look again. Surely its not the same person though.

BTW here's the thread of where I bought mine. Nothing mentioned of a clone before I bought it.

I can post Bruce Smith's address here in case anyone wants to visit and ask for a refund from him. The only chip he actually bought is a 413 chip, a few years ago.

Sorry man, I bought a 413 red label dme for my 24- swap and a chip that was an unkown clone for 200. At the time, 2009, I thought I was doing good being that I can't get to the junkyards. Again, goodluck with this, and I hope you have your software copyrighted.

Thanks for the support everyone, it's good to know not everyone thinks clones are the way to go as some people do.

Did you ever contact me regarding that? Send it back for a refund if it doesn't work, no reason to buy something that for whatever reason does not work for you. Or send me an email to discuss what I may be able to do to diagnose what is the problem, if you still have the car. Is your car a North American version or something else?

Yeah we emailed back and forth about it for a little bit. Don't remember the outcome of that, though. And I never even thought to return it. It never occurred to me that I could, I just kind of assumed chips were non-returnable for some reason. :p

Doesn't matter now, though, the car is in E30 heaven.

It's nice to know that a few years later, you're still willing to help a cutomer.
