My grandparents had a number of Minis throughout their lives, they sold their last when I was about 7.
A few years back my grandfather told me that he should have held on to it to give to me. I was not pleased.

Very cool! Nice story too. :DI bought mine when I was 13 for $350.00. It basically had to be replaced from the doors down and the firewall forward...and the roof welded on. Its not perfect but I learned a lot about mechanics, bodywork and patience. I also spent some quality time in the garage with my dad, which is nice. It kept me out of trouble by occupying most of my time and money for my high school/university days as well.
When I got it:

Resto job I'm working on for a customer. 70's mini pick up. It was so patched together that there were patch panels over patch panels. We blasted about 2-3 gal of bondo off to get to clean metal.
