That's what I was thinking, 7 gears is kind of overkill. But without driving it, I guess there's no way to know.

I think it looks pretty cool... 8)

          Yeah, don't kill me...

BUT, I know I wouldn't buy it. Not only would it be too expensive, but it would be too big for me. I've really grown accumtomed to my E30, no blind spots on this car at all, SO easy to manuver. When I climb into my mom's 528i Touring, it's a bitch to back up - can't see nearly as much.

But, I still think it looks pretty cool. :)

You could cruise at 75mph at about 2k rpms. That's gotta be great for gas milage on the freeway.

actually the real advantage is that you get to stay in the power range more then if it was 6 gears since the revs wont drop as much becuase you can bring the gearing closer together, yet not lose top speed becuase you eliminate the need for a high geared rear end. and since it is SMG you lose NO time between shifts, so 7spd makes sense. if it was manual, you would spend more time shifting then in actual gear, therefore you wouldnt be able to use your power, thats why manual is 6 speed :). i think this might be the ONLY time i want smg.
