      318i E30 1991
      18 dollars.
      bought heer in germany.
bought from a good friend actually in trade for a bottle of Jack Daniels.
car ran great, just needed 2 wheelbearings, a muffler, and an alternator.
with a little bit of polish it looked like this a few days later.

I have had plenty of cars given to me for free, but the cheapest I have paid was this one.

My winter beater: 1992 Volvo 240

Was a one owner, all the accessories work (even A/C), 140k miles, even had a set of studded tires thrown into the deal. I've been pretty amazed at how well it handles snow.

It needs a front suspension & brake refresh; but otherwise its been a great car. The slant-four manages a hair over 20mpg.

            Paid $795

              '84 318i, my m10 turbo project

              $400 off ebay (local)

              82k on the clock.

This is its best angle at the moment:

The exterior is pretty banged up, but once I got it home and started poking around I realized it's actually got really good bones; it would have been a shame to part it out. Very clean underneath. It's a nice solid starting point, and I love the color. I can leave it parked for months, hit the key and it fires right up every time.

I've got a bunch of parts collected already; wheels, suspension, e21 320is Recaros, most of the turbo stuff... Once I sell my 745i I'll get started on it. I've got the PO's address, when it's done I want to go do a big smoker in his driveway for hammering the shit out of this thing.

Edit: Shit, I almost forgot the one from high school:

              '78 Rabbit 4 Door

$175 from the Newspaper classifieds (remember when those were relevant?)

One owner, mileage unknown, engine was out of an '86 Golf

Like this, but silver with a black vinyl interior, and rotten as a pear:

I had it for maybe a year, never registered. I used to just slap a bogus plate on it and bomb around the back roads of western CT where I grew up. Cool car, it moved pretty good with the Golf engine and 4 speed. NO power brakes. Not because they didn't work, it just didn't have them. It was one of the rustiest cars I ever owned, no saving it. Junked it and got $50.

                  southern mi

                  buddies neighbor

needed a tune up and carb rebuild really bad, and the kick down cable for the tranny was broken so you had to drive it like b&m slap shift, but it did run. We would hear the neighbor try and start it to go to work, with sparatic success. Well he got fed up with it and put it up for sale for 60 bucks at the end of the shared drive. We saw and it i bought it on the spot but talked him down to 45. The battery was dead from the idiot trying to start it for us. So we pushed it into my buddies garage and put the charger on the batt, and hopped in my truck to go acquire parts for our new project. Well about 75 bucks latter and a carb rebuild kit and full tune up we set to work in the garage. About 90 mins after that we invited the neighbor over (did i mention we hated him) and it fired off on the 1st crank and ran like a champ (he was pissed when i told him what it cost to get it running good again). It lasted about 6 months till we blew up doing all kinds of stupid abusive shit too it, like trail running with the 4x4 guys with it, jumping it, drove it into a pond, all kinds of shit.

Google pic not mine but it looked just like this.

85 Mustang GT. 5-speed, last year of the carbed* 302. Came with a fresh-ish Holley carb & Edelbrock air cleaner. Ran ok but it has some weird electrical issue where if you light up any of the lights it basically dies. This includes the brake lights. I didn't realize that and tried to take it for a quick test drive after Seafoaming it. Whoa, bad mistake. Thank God for a good battery! It also had something loose in the steering so it wanders all around, randomly changing directions. Grinds reverse but 1-5 work great.

$450, but some lady hit me and gave me $50 bux. Absolutely destroyed their stupid Pilot, but hardly any damage to the 'Stang.

I didn't care about any of the electrical issues or the reverse because the motor and trans are going into an 85 242DL Lemons car.

83 rabbit gti- Free. Not exactly running, but with a batt and fresh gas it cranked and sputtered till i cleaned/tuned up the CIS. and new filter ect.

then got a 91 saab 9000 for $1 cause the kids mom said he had to "sell" it. and he felt to bad to charge any serious amount. Dunno why cause i drove it into the ground for 4 years and all i ever did was a clutch slave, a muffler and a starter in those 4 years. buch of other shit was wrong but patched it up along the way.

But I payed $240 for this sick whip. Drove it for 6 months then the trans shit out so I scrapped it. I feel like I got my moneys worth.
