What kind of welder do you guys generally use to create such sexy welds? I have a $400 mig welder and I thought I was doing good welds. Mine are nothing compared to these. I am not worthy

        This would be so cool.

And I really like what I am seeing in your build thread, definitely keep us updated on your build!

I'll start a build thread for the motor here in a few weeks. I have all the parts, but I have a couple other projects I need to finish before I start assembling it.

That's the plan, but the boost won't be for a year or two. I wanna get the rest of the car sorted first.

But enough about that, back to the topic of the thread!

This guy in San Jose CA biulds some really nice hot rods and this is one of his motors. I know he spun the copper bells on the intakes himself and made the valley pan. I am sure he did other custom pieces on the engine but not sure what....

Do the design engineers get their rocks off on "perfection"? Do they consider manufacturing feasibility when designing things?

I'd be really surprised if there wasn't some legitimate reason why I'm wrong... I'm actually just curious what that is.
The end with the tight tolerance is press fit into a bearing. The bearing is held on by nothing but the press fit and has a side load put on it, so it has to be perfect.

But yeah, we get prints all the time where things have ridiculous tolerances for no reason.

lol, that's cheating! (Not you, the exhaust manifold)

So-so welds, and then a colorful coating or plating over the entire manifold to make it look like the colors normally from welding. :hitler:

                            Haha.

i got the itch to make some furnature and stuff for my house so i thought i would post up the results.........

                                first off the patio tables:
                                coffee table

double corner braced so i wont have to run spanners on the lower legs to tie them together for stregnth and to keep them square.

the table is all 12 gauge cold rolled steel folded on a press brake. the legs are 2 1/2", 1/8" wall thickness tubing.

it is powder coated moss green.

i set the height at 21 1/2" and the table should safely hold over 400 lbs.

why so specific on the height and weight bearing????????
i built it to my specs so i could bend a girl over on it and with me at 240lbs plus a girl at 100-130lbs it wont collapse it i have sex on it.

                                END TABLE

the top is mounted with piano hinge to the lower section which is 4 1/2" deep. the sides and top are all press broke and it is made of 12 gauge steel.

the legs are the same tubing that was cut in a band saw then trued/sized and de burred on a lathe so they are exactly the same.

the floor of the table is als 12 gauge steel as are the corner bracing that the legs are welded to.

i still have to finish making the acetal plugs for the bottom of the legs so they don't scratch the tile.
