1990 E30 vert, 48K miles... Whats it worth?

This guy brought us a car to fix, its a nice clean red E30, 1990 covertible, 48K original miles, was a no-start.

I figured out that it was a bad DME.. And we also found some coolant and oil leaks, the antenna wont go up, lots of stuff is broken, especially stuff made of rubber. I guess this car spent alot of time sitting.

Anyway hes all hell bent on how good of a deal he got on the car. he paid close to 6 Grand on it !!! and now hes putting another 2Grand into it to fix all this stuff.. poor guy, I mean even a mint e30 in stock form doesnt get much more than 4 Grand does it?

Mint 5-speed cabrio with diving boards at absolute best is 5k-ish

Let him have a happy face. If he doesn't mind paying for the repairs why burst his bubble.

if it was garaged and kept mint tops 7k. outside w/ that mileage and issues 4k tops. low 2.5k, avg 3.2k, top 4k+ for that car.
        Much wow

          stop being cheap guys....

a mint e30 cabrio with only 48k miles will fetch 8k on ebay on a decent day. up to 12k if the bidding is fierce i bet. i'll also throw out that it'll be higher value if he doesnt swap to plastics. at 48k the only goal is to keep it as stock as possible.

a friend of mine sold an eta 4 door with 57k for 5.5k on ebay. the rear quarter had been hit and had damage. it had been smoothed out but it wasnt anywhere near good. he had 2 people come out and look at the car and he had it listed on ebay...

I would rather have a 148k car with all the maintenance done over a neglected 48k car any day. People are willing to pay out the nose for low mileage cars but then you gotta feel a little guilty about driving them and adding miles.

actually, they often do. although it doesn't sound like this guy got a great deal, unless he's using the low miles shell as a base. I mean, my car is "nice" but at 240k+, it's definitely showing it's age.

its not that we are cheap. he said "no start" = neglected. so a car that has been well maintained with 120k is gonna be a better car than a car with 48k that has been neglected.
