So you couldn't pass somebody doing the speedlimit, with that motor?Leave a comment:

Just drive your e46, you won't have that problem. What is really dumb is when you go to pass a dumbass in a Neon who is doing 45/55 and when you get beside him, in the opposite lane, he decides to drop a gear and stay beside you. Then you spot opposing traffic popping over the horizon.
I fucking hate people like that.Leave a comment:

Agreed. If they did in fact run him off the road, they should be shot. Why anyone in a rural area like that would stoop to that level is beyond me, but whatever. The best thing is, even if that person would have stopped, they still would not have been at fault because there was no impact. The only thing proven is failure to maintain lane... was a ticket issued BTW? Looking at the cop, I doubt there was.Leave a comment:

I'm sorry, but no matter what you think a "safe" pass may be, there's no justification for running somebody off the road. And you've been lucky. Sometimes things happen, and when it does, it usually happens faster than you expect.I pass cars safely, and at a safe rate of speed. i drive for a living, have passed hundreds of cars on many different types of roads and circumstances, in many different types of cars. I have never ended up submerged, rear-ending, on the shoulder, upside down, or in a situation I couldn't get out of.
Maybe this is one of those rare occurrences where shit happened and he couldn't get out of it. Maybe he has been driving for 20+ years like some of us without a wreck for 19 of those years due to driving courses, but given the populous of this site, I'm leaning towards a youngster with a V8 swap who was passing at a high rate of speed compared to the car being passed. They put themselves in a no win situation and lost. It sucks, but it happens.Leave a comment:

Riiight. You're on R3V Matt, not bimmer forums, or e30 tech, or my e28. I'm not going to stroke this kids ego or coddle him BC he parked his car at the bottom of a pond near the TOTD. Sounds to me like some spirited driving went wrong near the twistiest of roads. No harm no foul, just another e30 totaled... that's all.
I know, Ive just got my panties in a bunch over craigslist. Buncha no show people on that fucking useless service. God forbid you actually want to sell a car....Leave a comment:

blah blah blah blah. What happened, happened. Snap decisions in a situation like this hardly merit the amount of whining that is going on.

so you pass cars at 5mph? seriously?
15 feet isn't much at all. If you'd actually had the unfortunate experience of rear ending somebody, you'd know that.Leave a comment:

If one of the objects is stopped. In this case both objects were traveling at a rate of speed. he said 15 feet, which is a car length. at 5 miles an hour faster that is plenty of time to adjust as long as he wasn't passing at more than 15 mph faster. I don't see where you are missing the point. the car was in front of him with 15 feet of space. It wasn't like they were door to door. Applying the brakes while paying attention should have sufficed. Unless it was a reckless pass which in this case looks like it was IE, ending up in a lake, on what looks like a very easy road to pass on. also, is that a double yellow or a dashed yellow? I can't tell.Leave a comment:
