You can tell by the carrier that your diff is a limited slip. 100%. An open diff looks completely different. Lof8 you are correct, however many turns of the input flange it takes to rotate the output flanges 1 (one) revolution is the ratio. You are now an expert.Comment

I bought a BMW lsd unit out of a wrecking yard, it was from an 80's 5 series with a medium case diff. Tag said 4.27, but the actual ratio inside was 3.64. WTF?
Now I don't trust the tags anymore. Rotate to verify or count teeth and do the math.Lance Richert '88 M3, #35 PRO3, i3 etc.

+1 Its obvious you don't know a ton about diffs, which is fine, we all start somewhere, but learn before trying to dispute the seller. Counting teeth is going to be the most accurate way of solving what ratio it is, if you're too lazy to do it then don't bring the seller down because you won't believe what ratio he said it is.Comment
