I was looking at buying one at one point but the test drive put me off.

When I started up the car the dash lights wouldn't come on, the owner said it was a new problem to him and that it worked fine the other day. Then during the drive It lost the headlights and the speedometer suddenly, it was getting dark so I quickly got the car back to his house and decided to not buy a corrado. This was a VR6 model.

Exactly. If Corrado's were real wheel drive, I would have never owned an e30.. I'd be in one right now. They are so, so pretty.

Of course they have their problems.. But doesn't every freaking car ever made?

I had my chance to own the Corrado of a lifetime, and I didn't go for it. By rights I can never think of owning one again.

          The E30 doesn't :)

I have seen a few converted to Synchro via first gen Passat running gear. And one or two converted to RWD

I miss the good ole days of the Corrado forum. Shit isn't the same now :(

Time is taking it's toll..it really is in need of a repaint. 21 years and 200k on the clock.

These were back in 2005 (car looks the same)

I've never had an issue with the wiring harness, just the typical issues like spoiler motor, heater core etc. Motor is original, as is the charger (new seals at 160k). Right now, i'm chasing a coolant leak - this after replacing the entire cooling system isn't much fun.

For a new buyer, I'd steer them to a VR6. The aftermarket support is there, but with a G60 you're really stuck about 230-250hp as a ceiling. The VR6 has much more potential when you go boost. Or get a G60 cheap and swap in a 16v or 20v turbo.

I wandered over there when this topic popped up ( haven't been in there in at least a year. No dance off thread, no King bday posts, nothing to smile at in the first three pages. Just sad.:(

Great cars, fun, tight, nimble, and different looking enough where you won't see another one on the road everyday!
here's a pretty clean one. dunno much about it tho...

seller says it's fully restored. I like the color

+1, I love older VWs. Which is not to say I'd turn down a Corrado, 16v Scirocco, Mk1 Gti, or R32. Hmmmmm....
