I know the damage looks not that bad, but the steering wheel is turned a good 30 degrees while trying to go straight.

Keep in mind that I am the youngest of 10 boys (stop and let that shit sink in a second, would ya?) and my Father was a body man. I literally grew up in a body shop (Canyon Country Auto Body, Saugus, CA) so while I make no pretense of being able to do the work like a pro, I sort of know my way around.

This is way worse than it looks. I wish I had pics of the Chevy that I hit. I caved the whole side of that thing in, slid around at bashed the tail in, too. Shoved the drivers door in to the frame rail. Thank god the guy was driving a Chevy, had he been in a Ranger or Toyota, he would have been hurt.

Also, pretty much exactly 2 years ago (while on the Picnic drive!) I hit something on the road, like a block of concrete. It damn near ripped my control arm bushing off, bent the frame rail, caved "up" the entire length of my cars' floor and caved in the gas tank. This was after I already snapped off a CAB bolt in the frame, then drilled it wrong and broke an "easy-out" off in there too. I chopped a hole in the side of the frame rail and cut out the "nutserts" that hold the lollipop on and welded nuts on, inside the frame rail.

I know it looks all shiny and pretty and straight, but trust me, this is like high-heels and good makeup (and 4 shots of Gold) on a fat chick at midnight: yeah, it looks good, but it ain't all that hot by the light of the day.

I think I need to find a straight early shell...or R3V will hunt me down and kill me.

OP I'm not looking to get anything from your loss except some knowledge, I have an 84 coupe and I just want to know how you managed to get the aluminum bumpers(especially the front) to look so good?

Almost a blessing in disguise it would seem. After seeing some collision shots I feel pretty safe. Seems like the e30 is a tough little car.

Why get out of an e30?

I know you want an E31.. but those are SPENDY. 8,000 to buy atleast, plus all the special parts.

What's with people being afraid to drive in the rain? I've never had a car even feel "twitchy" on wet roads. I could see snow being a bit iffy with rear wheel drive, but if tires are so poor so as to cause a loss of control at 20 on wet, then I'd probably be suing the tire company.

I'm sorry for your loss though and hope everything works out.

Thanks! I have loved this poor old thing forever.

First is the airdam...IMO, the best looking airdam for an E30, period.

Second is tucking the bumpers and painting them satin black...third is smoked lenses, euro grilles (those are fakies, but I think they looked great) and US ellipsoids.

and on another note...why would someone go through the trouble of parting out theyre car if it wasnt totalled.lol

I can understand the first day ppl are in disbelief, but still today questioning the damage to the car. seems silly to do based off the pic
how about pics of the interior...any goodies or are u making a thread in the for sale section

As things sit today, I am going to find a fresh early shell and dump all the good bits into it.

But yeah, that may change at any time.

                            Sorry for you loss Luke.

Can I buy your Drivers side euro grille? I lost my drivers side in an accident and the passenger side has been sitting in a box in my garage ever since.

                              Luke,
I was not disputing your judgement just... it didn't look that bad :). From what you say, this shell already overstayed its welcome. I have to ask though.. why another early car?
