It does sound like an optimistic number. However, if it is a U.S. Spec car with factory black interior, it is 1 of 101, which would make it quite rare and desirable. All of the rest of the U.S. Spec cars had tan interiors. I would expect it to pull a big number if it was a super low mileage garage queen, black on black U.S. Spec. For some reason, possibly high maintenance cost and/or significant engine rebuild cost, the E28 M5 market has not done what the E30 M3 market has done in terms of hitting the collector market beyond pure 'enthusiasts'.

That's a great price compared to what I see around these parts. A ghettoed out neglected auto M3 would be that much here.

I would be wary if I were a potential buyer, the seller says its been reupholstered. Who knows if it's really that 1 of 1, black on black m5. Definitely would need to run the VIN.

Jesus man! Rust free pseudo running e30 for 1100.00 that appears to have decent paint? What the heck do you think you are going to find that's better in that price range? Especially in New Jersey?

I mean, it really won't cost even close to that much since the body is clean and the paint seems good. All you'd really need to do is a basic service. Timing belt, water pump, etc...

That's only gonna cost you like 400-500 at an indie shop and even less if you do it yourself. Besides...spending money on an E30 is the fun part.

This. My barely running, non driving, coupe was in WAYYYYYYY worse shape, and I paid $1400. Granted, that car here would pull 2500+

Thanks a bunch guys I might go for it if I could sell my dad's old sun and do everything myself with its one reason I really love the e30s also is a manual that I can learn to drive manual on lol as I've learned to drive auto and never had a car to learn manual. Hopefully I can get it soon before it's gone lol

i think it sounds like you are probably too young for this car right now. by what i am reading here, maybe wait until you are out of college to start looking.
