Oh, and BTW Luke, If you read this I wasnt implying anything like you dont value your car. I understand from what you posted about numerous things that had happened in the past which were reasons for not salvaging it. Was more hating the thought of ever being in your position.

I know alot of people just see them as metal and for eg, if I totalled mine I know I could get another shell and swap everything over but I love mine, even for its faults. Some of the chips, even some of the dents. Bit like scars and chicks love scars right?

    I still like the saying

"Stone chips are the best trophies"

Someone asked about buying the graphite V8 recently and my Mrs asked "how much would you get for it" She wont ever ask that again after the look I gave her. No words were necessary lol

          I'm totally hooked!
My e30 is not the cleanest, but seeing the amount of work I've put in her getting destroyed by the next owner will kill me.

              It's my partner in crime.

              $1200 car, $1k motor swap, $2k suspension, $1k wheels/tires, $750 stereo, $500 lights, still a shitbox. I'll say it's sentimental, but it's really a lot of both. :p

I'm incredibly attached to my car. It is my first and only car and I would be incredibly upset if something where to happen to her. I thought about selling her, but couldn't even get to the point of posting a listing.

My current E30 is my very first car which I bought a year ago when I was 20. It was love at first sight when I was browsing the classifieds. I knew I had to have that car and looked at the car that day. Two days later I purchase the car for $1100.

I put about $800 of new parts into it and drove it for three months as my DD for university. One day I was heading while heading home from work I was driving in a hurricane which was shutting the city down and I drove through deep water which hydro locked the engine and broke a few pistons. Rebuilding was out of the questions so I began so search for a new engine. Old bmw's are few and far between where I live (Newfoundland Canada which is an island) and getting something would be a feat. 8 months later I found an engine and finally after saving money throughout school I bought an M50 and had it shipped 2000 miles.

I just started a new job this summer and have a list of parts done up for the 24v swap. Everyday I walked out of my apartment I look at my car parked in the driveway and dream of the day I can drive it again. It's been a long time coming, and I still have a month to go before I'll be able to get in and drive again.

I've become very, very attached to this car. I've even had opportunities to buy other vehicles. My father offered to buy me a old beater to get around with for the time being but I opted to wait and save money to get my baby back on the road.

I bought my first E30 when I was 18. 316iA. Figured it would be nice with RWD in the winter. Then I got hooked on BMW's, and when spring came, I bought a E39 523i to replace it. After a few months I started missing my E30. Even though it was the 1.6 automatic one. So in August 2009 I bought a 318iS turbo. It was a lot of fun, but it only lasted 8 hours. It was a shitty build, and I shouldn't have bought it. I sold my E39 and traded the turbo for a stock 318iS, which also was built shitty and it lasted for a month or so. Then I drove my moms Golf IV automatic through the winter, and last July I bought myself a 320iC. First vert. Sadly, I never really bonded to it, so now it is up for sale, and last week I bought a 316i. Back to the start. Even though it hasn't been on the road since 2006, and it's in terrible shape, and to top it off, 1.6 litre, I fell in love the first time I drove it.

Definitely sentimental. First 'nice' car I've ever owned, along with being the most problem-free. Kinda screwed that up for myself last month since I involved myself in a bit of an.... incident. I've got some work to do but she will rise again. This car is fantastic

I would never ever own a car I did not absolutely love, ever. I have only sold 1 car in my entire life. That was a '96 Escort wagon my Dad gave me. I hated that pile of shit. When I sold it, all of the money went immediately into my E30.

Before I ever even drove it.

I knew that, exactly what I took this thread to be about.

                              I love that car.

I am not ashamed to say I cried about this wreck. Sobbing and tears and all of that whole broken hearted thing. Seriously, a 260 pound 6 foot tall 27 year old grandpa, crying over a damn car.

                              I love that car.

See if you can find my thread about my cat Sasquatch. I loved that cat, but he had FeLV and got sick. Really really sick. A biiiiig burly sweetheart, about 20 pounds normally, when he got sick for the last time he got down to 8lbs and could not find the strength to eat chopped chicken livers, his favorite treat.

I made a whole goddamn turkey just because that was his absolute favorite food, he could not even eat that.

When he got too sick to get outside and had to settle for using the litterbox (he hated litterboxes, far preferred nature), I took him to the vet and had him put to sleep. I made them take payment for services first, because there was no way I could talk to anyone, I cried so hard. I STILL cry about missing that cat and it has been years.

This car was second only to Squatch of things I have lost. This hurt more than divorcing my 2nd wife, and she got the house. The cat got sick before I ever got him. The car was an absolute pile of shit when I got it (ask Jordo, he worked on it) and it was just getting ready for the final transformation of fresh bodywork and paint, plus an S50 that has been sitting on a stand here...and I wrecked the goddamn thing.

                              trust me, I am hurt.

The phoenix shall arise though, when the time is right. All useful parts will be saved. Hell, I even got a PM asking about the airdam just a little bit ago from a guy with 1 post... and no, as of right now, none of it is for sale.

I wanna go play some pool (for those who don't know, all I do is play pool and work) and I am not going to, just because I hate driving my beloved POS Astro.

So, instead, I will listen to O.A.R and build boxes. It will be OK, I can build a better car, make smarter choices, aim directly at what my goals had morphed into, instead of fumble-fucking around for 5 years.

I just know already I won't love it as much.

                              Luke

PS: I don't wanna hear about ANY of you wrecking your own damn car. If it has to get wrecked, at least make damn sure someone else wrecks it.

sorry about your cat. I love animals. I am now sad reading that lol : (

also every time someone borrows my truck I tell them if they get into an accident it better be wrecked. My girlfriend jokes about stealing my e30 and I tell her the same thing...

but seriously, I've only had my vert for two months now and I am in love. It took me almost 3 years to finally get into the right circumstances to buy one and then my father bought the vert for me.....My first vehicle was a dodge durango...had some crazy amazing times in that thing during high school....but this vert is just way better. I have a feeling I'll be owning this car until its physically impossible to own.
