    got bumped, now what?

I left the car in the lot at Kroger and got paged to the desk. They told me my car got hit, so I went out to look at it. The guy was nice and accepted all fault, but doesn't have insurance. Do I just take it to a shop? The car needs a full respray, so I'd like to leave it for now till I have the rest of the money. Any thoughts on how bad this is? The door is dented in a little and the pillar is creased in.

      For fuck's sake..

Mother fuckers not carrying insurance. It's a f'ing law in most states I'm aware of.

Shit - wish I had something constructive to say there..

God damnit - I'm just going to fucking swear the fuck out for you.

      Fuck.

          right.

considering the most likely reason he doesn't have insurance (money), what makes you think he's gonna have the cash to fork out to repair someone's car?

That's what im worried about. He said he wanted to pay cash though. The one thing that pissed me off was him mentioning that the car has alot of other blemishes. I mean, I know it has problems that need straighting out, but it also wasn't side swiped...

he's not in a very strong position to be making value judgments on the condition of your car. ;)

Know anyone that works @ a body shop?
I'd get an estimate (a good one) for the repair and let him pay you for it. Then save the money for a re-spray. This could actually work out for you as long as he pays up.

a call to the police/authority since he's already admitted fault. (i have no clue how it works but there has to be such a way no?)

since the incident is in a parking lot, there is no need for cops.
just get his information and give it to your insurance company and they will deal with it.
the insurance company will sue him and collect both collision adn punitive damages to teach him a lesson.

if you are nice, get an estimate and collect the amount from him for the repairs.

Fuck him. He damaged your car, he needs to pay for what he damaged. Who cares if it has some previous blemishes, it didn't have a huge dent in the door before he hit it. Make him pay for it. If he won't, take him to small claims court. I had a similar situation with the landlord at my job. He rolled a dumpster into my car and luckily only damaged the wheel. Left a fair size gouge to the metal and he said because it wasn't painted real well that it shouldn't matter. I still made him pay for to have the wheel redone.

Check your policy, if you have uninsured motorist coverage with zero deductible, then it's a no-brainer.
