i drive an eta... nuff said ;)Originally posted by modifiede30Don't you have enough power in 4th for passing on the highway? After about 70mph, 4th should be pulling quite well.well... if i'm on the highway & making a passing maneuver, it's good to know that in my car the top of 3rd is about 80
actually 4th and 3rd pull just about the same at 75-80 unfortunately-Pete

just what it says. down shift. like 5th to 4th, 4th to 3rd. or 5th to 3rd for a power boost instead of slowing down. basically making use of your gears/powerband. if youre not familiar with it, dont try it on your own. get someone that knows how to do so,to show you.FOKAI DA'MA'SHI'I ENSANE GRAPPING INT.Comment

I think he was joking as he is in the process of building a turbo motor which will not require downshifting. ;)Originally posted by rayzjust what it says. down shift. like 5th to 4th, 4th to 3rd. or 5th to 3rd for a power boost instead of slowing down. basically making use of your gears/powerband. if youre not familiar with it, dont try it on your own. get someone that knows how to do so,to show you.Below the radar...Comment

Are you serious man? You really explained how to downshift and then say dont try unless I know how to on my own?Originally posted by rayzjust what it says. down shift. like 5th to 4th, 4th to 3rd. or 5th to 3rd for a power boost instead of slowing down. basically making use of your gears/powerband. if youre not familiar with it, dont try it on your own. get someone that knows how to do so,to show you.

Well I downshift all-too-often....regardless of which gear I'm in. My 4th gear runs out somewhere just above 100mph (I'm running a 4.10 LSD) so if I'm in 5th and doing 90mph and want to pass, then I downshift ;)

But doesn't an eta have greater low end torque than high reving torqure? I'd think 4th at 80 in an eta would give you much greater torque than dropping into 3rd. Besides, you'll likely loose more time downshifting, then upshifting, than just staying in 4th. Unless you're revmatching, you'll loose a few mph's just downshifting.Don't you have enough power in 4th for passing on the highway? After about 70mph, 4th should be pulling quite well.
