READ THIS
http://www.caranddriver.com/features...sted-tech_dept Actual test done by Car & Driver. It doesn't affect performance as much as you would think, however I am part of the group that obsesses about all the small things so I tend to stick with smaller lighter wheels.
I created a gear calculator as well as a tire+diff calculator which allows you to put in a stock size and aftermarket size and get your effective diff ratio from the size change, so if you wanted to upsize wheels while going from a 3.73 to a 4.10 diff you can see how it will end up compared to stock. PM me if you want the Excel file.Comment

Is this in response to the OP or Sagaris? Either way they both used "affect" correctly.
Affect implies an action upon a person or thing but an Effect is the result of the action upon a person or thing.Comment

I was thinking along the lines of how will bigger wheels affect my car. Or what effects will bigger wheels have would work too.
And thanks for the posts. I think I might bite the bullet and get DRW steelies which are 15inches, and yes I know those wheels are prone to bend but I can't find another wheel that looks like them and that's what I'm going for.Comment

Exactly..... in which case it is still used incorrectly. You made my point for me. Its cause and Effect. As in the Effect of larger diameter wheels.... effect: result or consequence. He's asking about any "result or consequence" of using larger wheels.

are those RG-Fs? nice wheel, very light, but also super expensive. Garden variety 16" wheels are going to weigh a lot more.. like 5-10lbs more.Comment

Diamond Racing Wheels,http://www.diamondracingwheels.com/ They are basically stock car/off road wheels and are prone to bend easily, aren't as cheap as people would think, lug centric, not hub centric, need to be spaced properly and usually have to grind down the brake caliper for them to fit. A huge pain in the ass but I like the way they look a lot. Although the whole bending part is worrying me so I might try something different and think I might have found what I am looking for.Comment

Correct sir, they are RG-Fs, and while they were pricey they preform well, clear my BBK and should last as long as the original weaves that were on my car did. (divided out over 20 years they're only about $100 a year. ;) )Comment
