So I have a chance to buy two 325is's that are by a neighbor of my grandparents. The first is a red 1988 325is with 178,000 miles, manual. It has bottle cap rims and has a pretty strait body. The paint is very faded and and there is some rust over the fenders. Not too bad. The interior is good. The guy want $850 for this one. The second is an 1989 325is auto. It has only 49k miles, gold paint, very good tan interior but has rear end damage. Looks like some backed into a pole. The bumper, trunk, rear quarter panel are damaged. The body also has many scrapes and dents. Very good tan leather seats. The car is.pretty clean though and is not that worn. Bbs wheels, exceptional ellipsoids and foglights. He wants 1200 for this. What do you guys think? Also both have the plastic bumpers and clear titles.

I would offer him 1500 bucks and see what he says. But then again im kinda cheap...Originally posted by NitroRustlerDriverI don silk gloves and place them into a sacred envelope made of magic and lined with Unicorn fur, seal the envelope with an adhesive made from strands of Gypsy hair and wrap the whole thing in a snazzy looking faux gold leaf paper, with elm leaf inlay from Costco. Unfortunately, by the time it gets to you, all of that fancy stuff will likely have been picked clean by the greedy postal service employees. Please don't be surprised to see just a plain envelope.

By your title I thought you were joking.
Offer him a sum for both cars below the asking price of each together.
Or, swap things you want into the "better" from the other with his asking price maybe?
"I'll honor your price to the fullest if you let me swap seats from the gold car into the red one" etc etc

Running engines go for aroun $350 in these parts. Auto tranny maybe $100 if someone needs one. Recently a local guy couldn't give away an auto tranny.Lance Richert '88 M3, #35 PRO3, i3 etc.

Were you bakery shopping with your dad at the time?
Probably worth it, just swap whatever you want onto the car with the good body and sell the rest. That's a pretty cheap price for 2 cars imho- Josh

are there any spiders that need to be pocked?
the price is good for both. can you live with gold? how bad is the damage? can you live with an auto? perhaps the bronzit car is better to restore depending on how bad its hit. both prices seem pretty cheap. if it were me i would buy both, take the best parts to make one car and sell the rest off. you could recover a good portion of your money by selling off what you don't need and then another 3-400 just taking the shell to the junk.sigpic

Too much.
I wouldn't give him a dime more than 500 for the wrecked gold thing, regardless of miles and interior.
The red one? 600. only because it's a manual.
So, in other words. I'd offer a grand for both. Leave my number, and wait until he decides to sell them for it. It's just a matter of time
