car is running RICH like a mofo

quick question, what are the main leading causes of a car running rich?
got a nv m50 here and the smell of fuel is overwhelming.

is the only thing that needs to be replaced an o2 sensor? any way to check if there is in fact something wrong with the o2 sensor?

If your car smells like unburnt fuel, you may have a fuel leak... running rich doesn't really have the same odor as fuel smell unless you are catless maybe.

          On what transmission?!

15mpg is very, very low unless you're raping it 24/7 everytime you drive it.

Is it possible for a bad 02 sensor to cause terrible gas milage? I know it can on OBD2 cars.

Wrong. Unmetered air causes a lean condition, due to there being extra air (less fuel) then the computer thinks there is.

Leaky injectors could cause problems as well. I'd start with the O2 sensor though. You can test it with an ohm meter.

oops, i should fix my title then. its running rich because the smell of fuel enters the cabin of my car when im accelerating aggressively. im getting such bad gas mileage it's hurting my wallet...

i really need to pinpoint the problem soon!

where can i find the oxygen sensor?

'eh? It's screwed into your exhaust somewhere after the headers.

And if you're smelling raw gas inside the car while driving..well I'd stop driving it until you find your issue.

so i should look into the exhaust system ie headers/exhaust in the engine bay? or do i need to get under the car?

well...it only smells like fuel when i really stomp on it.

Well it could be your O2 sensor or its wiring, it could also be the coolant temp sensor or a leaky injector. Nice editing of the OP too lol.
