Like 2 days before I lowered my car, I was going down a hill at about 60. The streetlights are on the other lane, plus the shoulder is huge so the lighting isn't all that good. A semi must have had a blowout, because all of a sudden half of a huge tire just went *CLUNK* under my car. I'm glad it didn't do any damage :P

At least the guy you met stopped to pick it up. I drove past the next afternoon and there were still pieces of tire all over the road, lazy bums just swerve.

I ran over something today, not sure what it was, looked like a goats head or something.. anyway, I heard it clunk under the car, doubt it hurt anything as I was going slow (icy roads) but it was kinda nasty..

        Update: Car might be totaled.

No final word though until the estimate is complete tomorrow after the body guy looks at it...

        This sucks.

I was afraid of that... you never know with undercar work as it gets expensive pretty quick... good luck james!

I ran over a matress once... but it was a blessing in disguise, as this bitch that was tailgating me got it after I shot it into the air and it nailed her windshield, stupid lady. I ran right over it, and it compressed and then bounced up behind me, it was a funny sight, as my mom was driving next to me, it was near the golden gate bridge at about 65 mph.

98 ford tauras... wouldnt think "quick lane change" would ya? Well it does, and damn good considering a chunk fo truck tire was comming at me... by the way, sister car

I was hopping on the freeway once [for c bus, cemertery onto 270 N] There was a spare tire in teh middle of the road, i saw it well in advance i stopped to get it. About 5 seconds later someone hit it, i spun out into traffic and laid down in front of a red probe. The guy had no chance... he nailed it on the drivers side, mind you im watching all this in my rear view. Anyway, the guy continues down the road, ends up about 100ft infront of me off to the side of the road. Gets out of his car, SLAMS the door and proceeds to walk to my car. Looked so pissed, about to kick the shit out of me... gets to the car.. "|Sorry man, not my tire, i just stopped to get it... almost did the same as you".... looks at me, didnt say a thing and tunred around...

Shit... i was scared shitless, good thing he didnt think i was lying and take other actions... needless to say, getting back up to speed was the only thing on my mind

That blows extreme hardcore. I would not like to see your car get "totalled", no matter what the cost. Man this happened to me, but it was a box filled with...cottonballs?

Yea cottonballs I got lucky. Some of it attached to my oil pan and I pulled it off, but obviously not as rough as hitting a drivetrain....

And yes you are incredibly lucky for having the man claim the accident on their company, and I truly hope you can get it fixed instead of totalled.

From the guy who has your name... ;)
