LS1 =/= LM7 as far as price goes... LM7 is the (imo better option for most) cheaper route to go. the motors can in fact be had for about 700 bucks pretty easily w/ the AUTO trans... t56 will be much more (typically)

hang out and look for deals, they're out there.

Im actually trying to decide the future for my e30 as far as power plant.
LM7 and m30 are pretty high up on the list, but my target HP is 350 with a 2200lb car
so lil more realistic since its a DD, and i don't need 500 hp to kill myself in when im trapped in dallas traffic
I can run Auto Checks on VINs for tips/donations:
PM me VIN(s) and I'll get you ALL the public recorded info that I have available.

      5.3 + cam/LS6 intake and tune, T5 to save weight over a T56.

That's the route I was going to go until I ran across a deal on some turbo M20 parts.

I think you may have missed the point, ANY v8 you can find in the yards around here and drag up to the desk is $300 or less be it an LS1/LM7/m62 they really could care less since the're buying cars for scrap value around here left and right.

        The yard sees an LS1 or an LM7 as - 8 CYL ENGINE - $137.82 + a $20.60 core ;)

I was about to get an m52 out of an e39 until I found someone had left the valve cover off and the head was full of rainwater. :(

yep, and you'll need to be at the yard daily for a week or two when they open to have a chance of beating the Hispanic guys to a fresh LS1 when it's dropped in the yard. From what I gather they are paid by a few local shops to source parts for them, they are almost always at Pull-a-part when it opens and they know exactly what cars were put in the yard since close the night before. (they either have relatives working at the yard or are paying off the employees for tips of when good cars are dropped) That said, I have a friend who's a tech out of work that has made a living for the last few months just buying parts at PAP and reselling on craigslist.

They are like piranhas. Did you guys get cash 4 clunkers cars up there? That was nuts here, like people getting in fights nuts.

i think you guys are missing the point. he wants to show up the high power muscle cars and show them how a BMW can put out power. after ls1 swaps etc. its defeating the purpose

i havnt posted in a while but ive decided to pull my M50 block out of my E36 and start to build it at this point idc how much money i end up with in the motor but i jus wanna prove that an M50 or M52 can still make good power and be reliable. hell with 400 i could wax most of these guys (if i get traction)

My S52 E30 didnt make quite 400 hp with the SC, but with what it did put down I was able to walk on some badass cars. To include, an E92 M3 and a Camaro SS SLP.

That cost me 4 grand though. More power could have been had, but I didnt have the funds.

Have fun making mad power!!! Enjoy the ride!
