m-tech II vert questions

I am looking at a Diamond black M-tech II cab tommorrow, and I am wondering if anyone has any info on the number of them made?

I have the vin number, so if someone could decode that would be great. Its a canadian car and a 5 speed.

I believe its just an appearance package canadian car, but thats why it would be nice to have the vin decoded.

White/Black are 770 appearance package cars. Not sure if the Canadian versions were slightly different from the US versions though.

I don't know exact build date yet, as i have not seen the car personally. Its a 1992 reg car.

Since Canada is in North America, can we assume it is included in the numbers imported? 56 were produced in the first month of 4/91 ONLY and was made into 92. Total number is just a guess at this point. I'd say they are more rare than the white ones that seem to pop up a lot more often.

Tried to run that VIN, the DCS was incomplete, and did not show the color or options. I'm not sure what is going on but you may want to check to verify the VIN is correct.

Thanks for trying to run the vin Jim. Any idea what is missing to get the vin right?

I put it in real oem and it comes up with a build date of o4/92, and came from the factory with M-tech body, but it shows all suspension options(m tech and regular)

Your welcome, I have not seen this before so I am not sure what is going on. I would just verify the last 7 of the VIN with the owner. Maybe it is because it is a Canadian car. The other cars we checked the VIN on have all been from the USA. When I put the last 7 of the VIN into RealOEM I got this "You Have Selected: 04/1992 E30 325i Convertible M20 USA Left hand drive Manual"

I did not see the other information like Mtech body and suspension. It is nice that it came with a 5 speed from the factory, if realoem is correct, because most of the appearance packages came with autotragics.

The DCS is the BMW dealership service records for the car and shows the options that came with the car from the factory.

Ok, i have seen the car now and the body is very nice.
Here are the issues i can see, and if you in the know could give me an idea of repair cost, i can maybe make an offer.
He is asking 7k

Can you help me out on your opinions? I am a m20 noob and a cab noob. Car is for my wife

Car has 134,000 kilometers.
Two owner car with no original owner history.
Missing bump stops on struts, but its the original suspension on the car
Tach sticks and jumps are sometimes
No idea of last timing belt change. Only sticker i found was at 17,000 kms
All original suspension bits
The drivers door stop cluncks and you can see the top bolt twist when you open it.
Steering rack has alot of play
Rear seat top seam split
Alarm installed with aftermarket keyless entry
Oem central locking removed and not working
Drivers door lock very stiff
Power steering return line leaks
Valves ticky
Brakes grab quickly. Way quicker than my m3, but i don't see the check valve on the booster vacuum line.

Good
Two year old top
Great body,paint,wheels
New tires
Interior redyed, but slightly less shiny than oem black leather
134,000kms

7k Canadian for a stock appearance package seems to be a bit on the high side. Are there any rust issues? Diamond Schwartz is indeed rare, I have seen 3 on the road around here and was lucky enough to own 1 in the past.

Only rust found was surface rust in the battery tray under the hood, surface rust on the jacking points and surface rust on the outside of the rear battery tray area.
No rust anywhere else found.
Its a 5 spd also so that is rare.
The fact its low mileage is great, but the fact nothing has been replaced yet because of it is not great. it will need everything soon.
