DTM e30's only did it in 8:46. That is a race car, with a race car driver.

That is a lot of money and talent in that car and still similar times.

I can drive an S50e30 and Cayman S whenever I want. Not sure about a regular Cayman but the handling in the Cayman S is amazing. The car is so nimble and light feeling, right at .98g handling. It's light years ahead of my e30 with strut bar, bilstein sports, Eibach Pro kit and all new bushings. Hell my F150 handles about as well as my e30...

Were you talking to me? That is what I was getting at. Stock versus race car and race car driver and still 30 seconds slower.

I have no doubt that the cayman feels 100 years ahead of the e30 ... i was just pointing out some lap times ... i think that a well ballanced e30 with some proper suspensio setup can outrun a cayman... i've seen some e30 holding up with gt3's and corvettes ... i think the weight advantage and a good setup makes the difference..

^ A lot of that has to do with the driver. A good driver in a slow car is generally faster than a poor driver in a fast car.

That is true... it's also almost imposible to know for sure if the e30 can make a better time on the track ... unless someone takes bouth cars (proffesional driver aka: the STIG ....) and then you can see something relevant...

There is no way that car is stock. Stock m20 perhaps, but the suspension wheels and definitely tires have had a working over in a major way.

how do we know the track config is *exactly* the same? unless that were verified, it's really a pointless comparison because we don't know if it's truly apples to apples.
