It's a five speed with a bad AFM or vac leak. Jump on that shit. Check for mixed coolant and oil and be done.

Yeah hoping there is no water in the oil. I'm thinking VAC leak. AFM from an M20B27 won't work will it? Just wondering because I have an extra.

Don't troubleshoot the car there, if it ends up being something simple and you fix it in front of the owner he may back out of selling it.

Good point. Ima buy it regardless. If its a blown headgasket then it its still a pretty good deal for parts, or it'll make a great M50 shell. If its a vacuum leak then its a steal and I'll DD the shit out of it!

If the body is in good shape without rust it'll still be a good deal. Its got a new clutch and new rear wheel bearings. Most the e30s around here you find for sale all have diving boards. I need a new daily driver because my eta is rusting apart. If all else fails I'll just save the shell for and M50 conversion one day.

What about these wheels? I've never seen them but I don't think I'm a fan, maybe they'll clean up nice?

i paid $600 for a 90 325i with a burnt valve on the M20 and with a autotragic. i would pick it up, fix the issues it has and then paint it later.

Here in kansas I have gotten e30's for as cheap as 700 to 1,800 (88ix).

If you know what to look for then get it if you know its something simple. Try to offer 700 first and flash it infront of him, sometimes that works pretty well if they need money.

In Kentucky where bmw's are not as common as on the east or west coast I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I'd buy it here if it was rust free. find an m20 for 300-400 drop in be happy...1200 car with lots of new stuff then part out old m20, the ugly wheels and anything else you will be upgrading. These cars are going up in value you won't lose that's for sure... Offer 675 cash...

Guy laughed when I said 800, even frowned when I said maybe 1000, but that was before I knew it was running like shit. I'll flash the 700, and tell him he is robbing me for that. I've got an M20B27 but I'm not about to make an i into an eta. I did an engine swap so I think a Head gasket won't be too rough. Pretty sure its vacuum leak, fouled plugs, and maybe bad AFM. Anyone have an AFM they'll sell me?

EDIT: also owner said something about a valve in the dash being bad, causing the A/C not to work? I never had A/C so never worried about it, but anyone know what this might be? Hopefully its cheap to fix because its balls hot this summer and I need A/C

- do stomp test (memorize all the codes..probably a CTS)

betcha can get it purring in a weekend...and if it is the HG...it would smoke, or mix...and if it has hex head bolts, you gotta do them anyways...
