IE motor mount FAIL

Anybody else have troubles with the yellow Urethane motor mounts from Ireland Engineering?
I got a set about a year or two ago after my stock mounts gave out, and when i pulled that engine out to put in another car, I noticed one mount had seperated. I put the car together with one stocker and one urethane, and emailed Ireland about the mount. He said there was nothing wrong with the yellow ones, but for some reason they switched to a green urethane. He did give me a new one for only 25 bucks, but in the meantime while running one stock mount, my engine moved around and my fan kissed my brand new radiator, ruining both the fan and radiator. (i was missing the small buffer piece that hits the subframe and prevents the engine from going foward)

Anyway now im installing a new radiator, alternator (that stopped charging, gotta love this car) a fan, and IE mount.
Well, now I discovered the drivers side yellow mount is now seperated. WTF?
Anyone else have probs with these? is it a weak design?

I've had mine for over 4 years with no problems.

Bimmer630 - there have been some failures due to the urethane not bonding to the metal properly. That's why IE now uses the green compound. Alternately there are many race cars that have running them over a decade without issue.

yeah but im running a stock m20, with almost no power. I just found one of my UUC enforcer trans mounts is seperated too.

In this case it's not how much power your running, it's simply due to improper bonding. I'll look out for your PM.

He wasn't pertaining to power in a race e30, he was talking about consistent abuse that it takes. Stock power or not. The mounts might be their screwup, but it was your choice to roll around on a stock used mount/no buffer and screw up the fan/radiator. Sucks dude, I know. My car's been sitting on jackstands for months now because I've been having issues with various parts that have not been built properly. Hope you get it squared away.

All of those half ass non bolt through poly mounts are garbage. THEY WILL ALWAYS SEPARATE.

Go OEM or go bolt through.

^ Woah, strong words there buddy.

You do realize that with a bolt through mount that the stress of engine vibration would be transferred solely through the bolt effectively making it a very skinny solid mount. The reason it is not a bolt through design is so the urethane can dampen/dissipate the vibration before it hits the frame (this is the same theory applied to the stock rubber mounts, just less dampening. ).

I just got my engine running a few weeks ago and they seem fine. I have the green mounts for the engine but the tranny mounts are yellow, hopefully they hold up. They do make quite a bit more noise... but the engine feels nice and tight.
