    Haggerty Insurance and Autocrossing??

Based on the value of my '87 325is I'm in the process of switching my insurance policy over from my normal insurer to Haggerty who will cover it for the replacement value, but ran into a bit of a snag. They informed me that they won't cover any track-related activity like driving school or autocrossing. Say what???

How does one deal with this? I'm not planning any car vs. car racing, although I'd like to take advantage of open track days and high-speed driver's ed sponsored by my local BMWCCA chapter. I'd also like to participate in some local autocrossing.

Do you just not tell Haggerty about events and hope for the best? Are there other ways of covering your car for events like these?

    Any suggestions are appreciated.

What it means is if you wreck your shit at an event, they don't cover you.

If you're not at an event and wreck your shit, they'll cover you.

dude, look into track day insurance.

i know plenty of guys who track their sportbikes get trackday insurance.
few people i know with REALLY nice cars do it too.

somehthing like 3 days for under 500 bucks.

Lockton Affinity has reasonable rates on track day insurance. Ryan Staub, one of the agents, is a racer/instructor in the KC area.

Although most guys will tell you not to go to the track in something you can't afford to walk away from.

Yep...to be covered while on track you need additional insurance. You can't really wreck your car in autocross... HPDE yeah maybe if you run 10/10th and run into a wall.

I don't fear crapping my old bucket at tracks days, its bumping into a Murcielago that make me itch.

in nearly 10 years I've never seen a wreck at an autox.. I did see a girl put her boyfriends car through a fence though. scratched the hell out of it.

but, you don't generally need track day insurance for autox, especially not in an E30..
