    MegaSquirt?

Other than being a MegaNoob to the MS stuff, can someone explain what it is and what the benefits are of the kit?

    Thx.

    Inexpensive standalone engine management.

Pro: you can tune your own car.

Con: you can tune your own car.

I just had my plug and plug unit built by Blueapplesoda. Car fired up instantly and runs good. The trick is to have it dyno tuned and not blow your car up thinking you're a master tuner all of the sudden.

With a plug and play unit enclosed in a stock ECU I don't see how anybody would ever know.

            this.

also options for tuning are endless within certain parameters. very useful but requires some knowledge to work with.

true. but no is going to pop your glove box open and start looking at your ECU.

i just got finished bolting mine all up nice and clean. fits in factory location, looks no different. If you were really good you could tell only because MS requires a vacuum hose that runs into the unit.

anyone running MS is gonna get pulled over for engine mods before they get nailed for ecu

whodwho makes a PnP kit that doesn't require a MAF or AFM
you can adjust and monitor A LOT more than you can with a WAR chip.

                      Not for beginners
Lots of complicated wiring and tuning.

NOT trying to be a dick right now, honestly. But from your past couple of threads I would recommend staying away from MegaSquirt. I think it would be too complicated/frustrating/over your head. Like I said, I'm really not trying to be mean it's just my honest opinion.

Megasquirt couldn't be simpler if it's a PnP unit. Remove AFM, add IAT sensor, run vacuum line to ECU. The part people need to realize is take it to a tuner and have the car dyno tuned, don't do it yourself.

Yeah, it's not worth blowing an engine. Take it and have it dyno tuned, I'll bet they will tune FAR better than you ever will.

Megasquirt is pretty damn simple to autotune on the street. You just pick the target AFR you want and drive, it does the hard work for you. You have to do something seriously stupid to blow an engine with MS.

Cold starts and low RPM's in traffic can sometimes drive you crazy
