two points;
1. bmw are just like having a titty fetish. there's always a bigger set in fantasy land. 2. and human wants are insatiable.
bmw knows this and they are like drug dealers, they got you hooked om the easy to work on, simple, reliable, fun e30 and then they shove the computer trained techs up your ass [yeah baby] with every new model. just like my first bag of black tar herion was free and know i steal i.s. lips at the movie parking lots to support my addiction.
but dont fault an e30 for not being a new 1 series and visa-versa.
as far as dreaming about other bmws.....shit it probably keeps half the world sane.
so why not have a bs agruement like would mighty mouse beat underdog or which super model would be the best lay.
but when it comes down to it, for me anyway, my e30 brings me joy and for that i will always love it.

the z4m is so much better looking in terms of elegance mixed with sportyness, where as the 1m is a gentleman with big ears and a black eye but he looks bad ass. Wish the 1m had a s54 and the choice would be easy.

The 1 series is one bad ass machine! I was just on you tube looking at videos of it before I got on here. I seriously want one too, but a lot of people say it's cute car which makes think what if?.. People might say that it's a girls car or something :/

My biggest quirk with the 1 series is its styling. So friendly, happy and girly looking. I think its pretty ugly. Performance from newer cars never really impresses me. There all turbo now, and there's always something better coming. There's no more e30 m3's or e39 m5's. The 1 series looks so soft compared to almost everything else German. They should have scraped the whole 1 series and made another z3. Cheap verts with every engine (especially for 4 cylinder). Coupe version with only the biggest 6 or m motor. That would get me excited. We shouldn't be impressed with turbo cars. Its such an easy way to make power that half of the guys here do it. We need to get behind engine building and design. Get an e92 m3 (It might actually appreciate 1 day).

While I will agree that the 1 series is a little swoopy, I don't consider the E30 particularly manly either. The 1er has really grown on me latelly.

I've never felt that the 1-er was good looking but I've driven a few (both the 128i and the 135i) and found them to be good fun. I even got fairly close to buying but just couldn't bring myself to go for THAT much money and THAT much weight. I'm reconsidering now since the only direction I see BMW going is not very appealing - and this winds up making the current car look "less bad".

I'll try my best to own an alpine on black 135i within the next 5 years. A post-facelift model with the N55, LED tails, and sunroof delete would check all the boxes.
