      the valves are eta-sized, yes.

for anyone with an eta, that's not really an issue is it?

besides the fact that you can have the seats reground for b25 valves...

and if we are indeed talking about an e30 320i, that's a 731 head casting, & the port passages are bigger than they are on 6cyl e21s & etas. this is a combo that's already been documented on this site, so i don't know why i'm bothering arguing about it with someone who obviously hasn't done their homework.

mike: the intake manifold gaskets for the 731 head and the 885 head are the same part number. does that tell you anything?

eric, i already have a 731, and i paid $350 for it. mine's from a 323i so it has a hotter cam than the 320i would, but i'm planning on replacing that before the motor goes together anyway. seeing as you can only get one from a grey-market e30 or overseas, if you find someone who knows what it is and what it's good for:

you'll get that much for it. i considered selling my car and collected parts earlier this year, and people are still bothering me for mine.

      1985 323i baur

believe what you want, I am ther one in europe and have repaired more M20 engines than you have ever dreamed of seeing. the gasket part nr. means nothing, its not like BMW port matched anything on the M20 motors. they all line up differentlyfrom head to head. obviously you havent done your homework and compared a 320i intake manifold to a 325i intake.

do what you want in the end you will be the one who is disapointed, I am just trying to help people with what I've learned over the years.
if im not mistaken, im pretty sure the later heads from the 325i is also a casting of 731 and says 2.5/2.7 on it. not positive on that one though.
good luck with whatever you do. but dont be upset when that head comes apart like 90% of the 320i heads here in europe do.

            Lets see:

I got the euro bumpers, all german check panel, the euro motor mounts, euro rearfoglights (Just an extra reverse light basicly). The euro 323i head, euro grilles, and the euro front airdam. Thats all I can think of thats different on my 323i.

I've got two Euro 320i's (parts and project car)... Welcome to ask for bits off it... Because they really aren't that special at all. There's 3 320i's down my street, 2 of them mine!
Rather have an American 325i than a 320i anyday!
