Has anyone heard from Robert Wells as of late?

Robert (RCWells)hasn't been online or otherwise contactable for a couple days now. I know he lives in Southern Mississippi. Suspect he has also in some form or another fallen victim to mother nature. Hopefully he is just without power and will be back on soon!

I've been wondering of his and the other Mississippians whereabouts too. I think he lives far enough inland to have avoided the worst of the storm, but I'd imagine they are having as much, if not more, of a problem with power as we are.

FWIW the website for his home town newspaper has not been updated since the storm hit.

If the center of the strom was 30 miles to the NW then he was on the side that got the heaviest rain and wind from the hurricane, the NE part has packs the hardest hit. Hope he and his are OK.

Just because it's a Cat 1 doesn't mean your in the clear, 2 years ago we had a tropical strom that flooded half the damn city of Houston and UH (where I go to school), plus there were plenty of trees down and power outages aswell.

What I meant by avoiding the worst of the storm is that he doesn't live along the coast, meaning theres no danger of a tidal surge and the winds aren't quite as powerful as they were on the coast. But like c0rnfl4k3 said, a cat 1 is still something to be feared. Again, I just hope Bobby and the others are just enduring some a/c-less days and dark nights.

Hey guys, man it's good to know you guys were asking and concerned. I am not going to write a book here though I could. Unreal is what it was, just unbelievable. We had winds that were at least 120-130mph even in Laurel. We have total devastation here and it's been quite an ordeal. I am at a friend's apt. downtown where power has been restored and I am trying to catch up on some of my emails and whatnot.

My house escaped direct damage and I have running water, and a gas stove/water heater, but I will be without power for weeks. The destruction is just indescribable. Everywhere there are trees, there is major damage, and Laurel is/was full of trees. The roads are becoming more passable with each passing day. We are getttin power restored slowly in the downtown areas(the areas with the least damage) and will be getting better I'm sure. There are people from all over the country coming in daily to assist with various operations and it's enough to make you cry. I know there are others with much more damage and loss than what I experienced, so I am thankful to God for what I have. My family is all safe and that's the most important thing.

Gas is worth more than gold here and is all but unobtainable. When a station DOES open, the lines go for literally miles. I have yet to get in one and want to avoid that if at all possible.

Anyway, that's a brief update. Eric Giles is good, and Alecs MacDonald is okay too. Alecs' house was hard hit with major damage, but I hear they all are physically okay.

Thanks to you guys who asked and were concerned, even those that didn't voice it. Please keep everyone here in your prayers, and I mean all in the path of Katrina.
