Amsoil preferred customer club.. I think it's $20/year and you get 20% off of everything you purchase on the site.

However, you do not get a discount on shipping.. which is usually where you take the biggest hit.

With that said.. I use Amsoil in everything I run and I am a broke ass fool.

One oil that's been proven to hold up to serious track use under brutal conditions is Brad Penn PG1 in 20w-50. Even though it's a Group III oil (like Mobil 1, Royal Purple, Castrol Syntec, Valvoline VR1 and the rest of the Autozone/WalMart synthetics), it really seems to work. It's also loaded with ZDDP and doesn't cost much. Levent just became a distributor after getting sick of all of us track whores and club racers raving about it. I run it in the E30 track toy.

If you want a "true synhetic" that's widely available, your options would be: the PAO-based (Group IV) Amsoil Dominator RD50 15W-50 and Red Line Synthetic 20W-50; or the ester-based (Group V) Motul 300V 15W-50 and Total Quartz Racing 7000 10w-50 (used to be called "ELF Competition"). Among those, Amsoil Dominator has the most ZDDP. That's what I use in my 190E 2.3-16 race car.

The old Kendall GT1 ("The Green Oil") favored by Porsche racers back in the '70s and '80s is no more. What's branded as "Kendall" today is fairly ordinary oil made by Conoco/Phillips. Having said that, their 20W-50 has a good dose of ZDDP and is easy to find and cheap to buy. Not a bad choice at all. I run it in the E30 when I can't get my hands on Brad Penn (now that Levent's a distributor, that's no longer an issue).

If you want the original "Green Oil," then you're right back to...guess what? Brad Penn PG1. Believe it or not, PG1 in 20W-50 it's identical to the original Kendall GT1 race oil. Comes from the same oil fields, refinery, and processing plant as the original GT1.

Mobil 1 ain't really the bee's knees anymore, it's a pretty generic syn. Good stuff posted here.

I know Amsoil is supposed to be the shit, but I put their motorcycle 20-50 in my 675 and it ran like shit.

I run 15w50 Joe Gibbs Driven XP6 in my euro S50 motor. It has a high zinc percentage and doesn't break down at 280F. Since my motor for some reason likes to run at 260F, I figured this was a safer choice than the old mobil 1 5W30 that was in the motor previously.

The local engine builder I bought it from says the circle track guys he builds for do about 40 races a year, and all they ever do is change the oil filter every other race and top off. He sends the oil off to the lab at teardown and says that it has less metal content than other oils he's used.

Funny thing is that I originally wanted to put brad penn in the car, but forgot the name, and the joe gibbs stuff came up on my google search. oops.
