why would a shop use quart bottles? Most oil change places have a large tank of oil and pump gun(s).

Shhhh, don't call the guy out on his dumbass urban legend nonsense.

That being said, I haven't seen a 15-20 dollar oil change place in a long time, most charge at least 30 now.

i use that in my forester. Smallcar performance in my hood carries it. Really expensive so I am going to switch to something cheeper.

Why are you so set on Mobil 1? I'm sure Castrol is on par.

Why not use extra virgin olive oil? That might be a close second

Im set on Mobil1 because i've been using it for over 6 years in my car and I feel like switching, especially to dinoshit, would invite gremlins.

Anybody use the valvoline 20-50 synthetic?

Yes I have used valvoline 20 / 50 in my 90 325is for years and it is wonderful. I have a heated garage so in the winter it really doesn't effect the motor much when starting. If you are exposed to the cold you had better step down to the 10/40!

Hate to break it to you, but Mobil one is not what you think it is. Where do you think Group III base stocks come from?

On the lines of mobil1, who offers a true synthetic oil in 15-50? I like the high zinc content of it and the heavier weight for the brutal summer temps here in AZ.

I am not totally sold on amsol's claims and it is not easy to get. I can get Pentosin locally easily, but they only offer a 5-40 synthetic. Would i notice a big difference between the 2?
What about the zinc content of it?

You can get Mobil 1 at Advance Auto online for $8.79/quart. Or Royal Purple for $9.29/quart.
