        The engineers at BMW put the chopped fiber mat there for a reason.

        So nesting mice could chew it up and make a soft nest in your glovebox.

            The trunk material isn't sound deadening. It's weight ballast. Depending on your E30, there is more or less back there. For instance, I don't think verts have it. But 318s have about 75# worth of it. Regular 325s have about 35# worth of ballast back there. It's the same reason why the battery is in the trunk stock.
            Question about that I have an Australian delievered 318is, same as a euro delievered 318is I believe. Anyways my car had no sound deading in the boot thought it was a bit odd. Is this normal?
