    How much is a 91 318is worth?

In good running condition (meaning everything works) roughly 160k miles and perfect cosmetic condition.
This is the model with the m42 engine*

In perfect condition it's worth 4 grande? I find that hard to believe considering it's as rare in the states as an m3.
I was thinking anywhere from 7k-11k

I paid 5k for my old 91 alpine, in perfect condition with brand new H&R/Bilsteins + euro lights/trim, mtech interior bits, zero rust, etc. They aren't worth all that much but they're fantastic cars. I prefer them over the 325is

LOLLLL Rare? Uncommon perhaps but certainly not rare. There's a lot of them in Cali. I agree with the above values simply because it's one of the last E30 models and are known as the poor man's M3. Definitely not 7-11K...I mean it's wishful thinking but no way.

In the UK (based on exchange rates) they are going for this money...

White and black ones usually command top dollar here though!

Yeah defiantly not rare. Also wtf is up with E30s prices lately? 4k for a 318is? That thing better be literally spotless for that kind of money, which I will guarantee it isn't. No 160k E30 is spotless.

If people keep charging these silly prices for E30s, I might sell my MT2 4 door with a new interior for 8k just because.

Yeah I think your prices and my reactions are based on you guys being located in socal and me in the midwest.
I remember when looking for an e30 people from social told me I should be able to get a decent one from $500-$1500. Well these prices do not excise for a drivable one around here. TRUST ME. I searched for months in the surrounding areas. And despite what pictures and descriptions will lead you to believe online, e30's for <$2000 that are actually drivable and don't need an overhaul simply do not exist (in this region)

Then your looking in the wrong places. They aren't common. But they exist.
                        ;)

You people and your 4k prices for stock e30's are insane. It would have to be a simply FLAWLESS car, Then maybe if it has good service records. Maybe...
318iS's aren't even uncommon, much less "rare". You want a rare E30? Find yourself a 4 door 320is

To you though. for the description, $2500. Not a penny more.

And yeah... Rare. Based on these production numbers it there were about 41k units made of the 318is over a 3 year period. Only 91 model year cars ever made it to the USA. Assuming they didn't randomy boost production that one year you can assume roughly 1/3, or 13,000 units were made that year worldwide. Meaning even less than that originally came to the US.

                          so yeah... Rare.

And don't assume that because you see them doesn't mean they're rare. I know a car that they only made 4118 of back in '68. I've seen 3 just in this area. Is that car rare? Hell yes. But I've seen it enough times to make someone who doesn't know, think otherwise.

Once saw one ebay a couple years back absolutely meant, stock, with cloth interior, silver with 90k well documented miles sell for just under $10k

I think this car belonged to someone in the forums

If this is worth 1k, then a meant one is easily 4k add an extra 1k for a legitimate owner who took care of it. Definitely more for tasteful mods

Sounds logical given it was ONLY available in 91 and we are talking about the 318iS specifically. Then again we could raise the same argument for the 88 325 super ETA as a rare car but who cares? doesn't mean it's any more valuable than say an 89 325iS. The 'S' package isn't what we'd consider a rare package either but putting that aside maybe there's a concentration of them in Socal because at the last two E30 meets I went to there were about 4-5 different ones at each meet and there were only 8 E30's total at one of those meets. They are often found in Junkyards and craiglist as well.

                              Here's a boosted one for $2900.

                              And another...

Perhaps you're right though and it's all about location because while we see 318iS' frequently, we really don't see too many 325iX's at all and one might say they are more rare than M3's here.
