    Paint Color options...Matte Red?

Looking at my next project if i keep my vert. I have Schwarz color now and the body's got a few imperfections. Will try to get all body work straightened out and then i know she'll need a full respray. So why not jump at the opportunity to go a little bit different. I'm leaning towards a red color and while i did like my old Zinnot I'm leaning towards a darker more Calypso'ish type color. And then i saw the pictures below and thought...Calypso Matte? Thoughts?

        regardless if that is orange.

Matte red, maroon, blue, grey are all nice colors to me.

Matte red or maroon best for cars

I may need to do a quick photoshop of it to see how E30 lines do with that kind of finish. Im also a huge fan of green...hmm

I was going to repaint my MG in satin British Racing Green, but decided not to. The problem with satin paint is that pretty much if ANYTHING gets on it, it ruins it. Basically any amount of rubbing on the paint polishes it, causing uneven looking patches and the like. Even washing it with a wash mit can fuck it up. So unless you plan to only take the car out on sunny days every few weekends, or plan to repaint it every few months, I wouldn't go satin.

I will never understand matte paint. It was popular with hot rodders back in the day who couldn't afford paint, so they painted there car in matte black primer. Why would you do that if you can afford paint?

There was a guy on here who painted his calypso with a near color match to it with chalkboard style paint. It wasnt too bad really. Satin turns rough, so either embrace 'rough' from the beginning or paint it right from the start.

Why would you need to repaint it? I've seen tons of matte red E30's
I don't always wreck cars, but when I do I wreck them into trees.

Matte red looks too much like primer.

Matte colors on a $100k+ car = cool...matte finish on a 20+ year old car = left in the sun all the time

Yeah, those super cars can pull it off but I don't think it would go over well on an e30. And what he said ^^
