Best option imo is an S14.

I want to put an S14 in a classic mini and do a rwd conversion. thatd be a blast.

S14 is super classy and fun, but not for everyone. It is an expensive motor in terms of parts and maintenance.
An s50/52 swap is definitely possible. You will need to cut out part of the firewall, and the trans tunnel to fit the motor and trans. You will need to cut out and fab up a new radiator support. You will need to change the length of your drive shaft. I really don't think that a e21 LSD would hold the power of an s5* motor for very long, so you would have to ether buy a custom rear sub frame from 2002 Haus or chop up and fit an e30 sub frame into the 2002 so that you can run an e30 diff with a e36 diff cover. Then there are all the small things like the custom length throttle cable, the fact that you will need an electric speedo and tach because all that stuff is wire driven on a 2002 and electric on a s5*.
It would be super sick, but there would be a lot of money and/or fabrication involved. If you already have all the tools you need for fabrication ie. plasma cuter, welder ether tig or mig, and so on that right there would save you a but load of money.
