    PA Classic auto insurance?

Dunno how this all works really. My car is eligible to be registered as a classic automobile in PA since it's older than 15 years old, but how would I register that? What insurance companies are out there that I can use? I'm tryna get the cheapest insurance possible under my name (I'm 18), cheapest regular insurance from state farm is $220 a month :(

Classic tags and insurance put a limit on how many miles you put on a car per year. For insurance, you will have to give them an estimated value you want to insure. I use Haggerty on my Lotus and have no issues with them. I pay about $250/year with a 6K mile limit to an insured value of $25K FWIW.

Must companies(if any) will cover the car as a classic if it is your only car. Harrgerty won't bother with you unless your other vehicles are like 20 years old or newer, and your classic is garage kept. I have a 62 mercury I tried to insure with them but since my two daily drivers were 87's they wouldn't. But it never hurts to try. Why is your insurance so high? My full coverage on my 88 528 was like 60 a month and my wifes 09 vibe is the same.

Also, keep in mind that on top of mileage restrictions, there are often usage restrictions. i.e. no commuting, no errands, must be garaged AT HOME, except under specific circumstances.... Also, they basically won't write a policy if it's your only car. Classic car insurance is really only a deal for a car you truly don't plan to use. If you're trying to sneak under the radar, well, they make that difficult.

I use American Collectors Insurance 800-360-2277, by far there the cheapest. I have five cars insured with them never an issue. Good luck.

That sounds like a steal. I only plan over driving my vert during the summer, so 6k is doable.

Even if your car is a classic. You still have to get it inspected like any other car. It's when it turns into an antique is when all that crap goes away. But you have to send the state pictures of your car to prove it looked like it just rolled off the show room floor. If it dont look stock and nice. You wont get antique tags. And with State farm IIRC, they will not put classic insurance on anything newer then 1970! I got classic on my Corvair and only pay $40 every 6mo :D

My insurance agent suggested I contact haggerty,he was saying coming down the pipe is a payout cap of $1000 for anything over 15(maybe it said 20 years, can't rememeber) years old regardless of what it is or what its "worth".
I haven't contacted them yet as its time for it to hibernate for the winter.

Can you elaborate? Like, how do they make it difficult "if you're trying to sneak under the radar." ? What do you mean by "sneak under the radar"?

It's different from each ins comp. Like mine it's 5000 or 6000 miles a year limit. Must be in garage at home, Very few pleasure runs, Can be taken to car shows or parades. Now say if your going under the radar and that means driving it more then those miles, and out in the rain or snow, or not going to a cruise and something happens to it. They look at the milage, and how it happened, and you'll be shit out of luck.
