Is this fixable/worth fixing? [R3V content]

I had the insurance adjuster come out today. He was hella cool and cut me a fat deal on my car. My uninsured motorist coverage only covered my car up to $3,500. He told me if he were to do a proper estimate, he would have to total it and take the car. So he just wrote the estimate to $3,500 so I got the full amount, and got to keep the car with a clean title.

After he left, I started pulling parts off like the hood, fender, valence, etc. I was wondering if the part below (where the fender bolts on) is replaceable or if it's part of the permanent frame.

    I basically have three options.
-I can keep the car and try to repair it- doesn't look likely.
-Buy another e30 or 2002 and start swapping parts over.
-Keep the insurance money, sell my car as a project (or part it out if it 1000% can't be repaired) and just buy a whole new car all together.

    Advice please.

(almost) Everything is repairable, but with $3500 you're definitely going to be better off just buying another one and swapping parts.

That's what I'm leaning towards but it's such a shame. It's a great foundation with all the paint work/bumper conversion and interior already flawless, I'd hate to see it go to waste.

more or less it is just the rad support, that has to be cut out an another welded in and some hammer work on the side. if towers didnt more or the lower frame not bent it is a worker if they are is time to swap. if you need a rad support i have a few an one already boxed ready to ship

The sheet metal on the side can be straightened out - it's non structural so it doesn't need to be perfect. Then you replace the radiator support and the valence. If you can DIY that, the parts aren't that expensive new and can be salvaged from another E30 if not. It's eminently fixable.

Whether its worth your time is another question that's pretty much wholly up to you. I'd probably do it if the rest of the car was nice.

you can fix it, but its not going to be cost effective. thats going to require retarded amounts of metal fab and mad hours.

best bet is buy another, swap the good parts and part the rest.

Take the $3500 and get new whip. Then take the car to the local college autobody shop and get fixed super cheap.

seems like the insurance company got the best of you! They can't take YOUR car!

I would fix that car, if you are a little bit handy, I could see getting it back to good shape for under 1500 dollars easily

Ummmm yes they can. Once they cut a settlement on it, the car legally becomes theirs.... at least in every state that I have had to deal with it in

As long as the shock tower isnt moved, the frame rail bent, its totally fixable. Depends on your level of dedication

You don't have to accept the deal, legally they can't just take your car. They have to buy it from you

The car looks very clean, it would be a bummer to see such a nice car go to waist. If it were me i'd probably see if it were still straight and if it was i'd do my best to fix it my self.

                            right.

Once the deal is done, the car becomes theirs. you may have the OPTION to keep it/buy it back, but once they pay out on it for a total, it becomes theirs.

so you got $3500 and you don't get to keep the car....I would personally ask them what it would cost to buy it back. See what kind of deal they give you. if you could swindle $3000 and get to keep the car I would do that. Parting it out alone will make that $$$ + some.

Then you could use the extra cash to buy a super clean sell and swap the parts over if you wanted. or part the car out and take that cash to get something new.

the worst that happens is they say no they wont do that or they want a fortune to buy back. i bet they will sell it back, insurance company does not want that car and would probably be happy to sell it back to you and not have to deal with it. they are prob just going to donate it to a junkyard anyways.
