Plus I think my transmission would explode.

If I tried in the M3 the engine would probably explode right now. Okay maybe not but I stills shouldn't do it. Burnouts are boring anyway, and expensive.

Since I have a 318i with an M42, all stock... I'd have to wish for
rain and bald tires if it is gonna involve burnouts.

There is nothing about a burnout that I find exciting or interesting.
Powerskids however are always the answer.
Warning non-e30 related video. Just showing how it should he done. ;)

I do at least once a week turning onto the main road by me on my way to work. Its usually around 7:05 AM so no ones on the road, I start getting sideways around 2/3 into 1st and all the way through 2nd and then jam it into 3rd to get it to hook.

Drift is easier than straight line burnouts in some ways (worse results when it goes bad though).

I can get the 318 pitched out and spinning... but from a dead stop on dry pavement, I get wheel hop.
Eventually I need to work the suspension, but need to decide Autocross or Rallycross first.

When I did the burnout on the Ural (posted earlier) I left dents in the pavement.
My neighbors didn't say anything, but I felt bad about it.

Agree with you there. Dead stock 318i, not drifts, but tail out.
