V6 could be good. A lot shorter so it could be mounted closer to the firewall, meaning better weight distribution. With all the new electonic BS BMW is putting all over their cars, the engine configuration is the least of my worries

I'm sure whatever it is it will still be fun as hell to drive. The era of RWD-only manual-only NA-only inline 6 BMWs has been over since the E46. The new cars won't have the same soul but they will still be a blast to drive.

Fair enough... but BMWs to me are about the feeling you get when you sit in and drive the car. You can feel that the people designing it wanted a car that was luxurious yet an absolute blast to drive as a drivers car... and regardless of the ingredients used to do this they are still accomplishing this goal imo.

I don't know any objective, non-retard that despises turbocharged engines. They increase the efficiency of an engine, don't add a ton of weight, and are just plain better all-around than a naturally aspirated engine.

Inline 6's sound better under throttle and decel where v6's rasp.
