    I get it now...

I now understand why so many of you say get a 5 speed. My first e30 was an auto., and I thought that was fun. Now I have a 5 speed, and HOLY CRAP is it like night and day between them. I have missed being able to shift gears on my own.

I just wanted to share that with all of you.

    Thanks.

Try swapping in a 4.10:1 LSD and running 225/45-R15 (or 205/50-R15) tires. Between the shorter final drive and the smaller tire diameter, the car really pulls hard out of corners. Definitely overkill on the street, but it really wakes the car up on the track.

No E30, besides a vert, should be an auto, 5 speed all the way baby.

There should only have been one auto e30 made, and that was for 5toes. I feel bad for you but I also think that you would be able to drive stick if you practiced.

my vert is still an auto and I think its blasphemous I shift into neutral any chance I get so that I feel more in control

This is why I sold my 'vert. I was loathing swapping the trans, and figured I'd just buy a 5sp one at some point in the future.

that's silly. E30 5-speed swaps are stupid simple. not much harder than changing a clutch, really. plus auto's tend to be less beat on as a base chassis.
