the new EPA guidlines, for older cars, are hilarious. I average 18mpg (epa rated average for a *stock* 325ix) with a stroker, 4.10s, R-DOTs and hitting 7500rpm every day - but if I cruise easy on the highway it jumps back up into the mid 20's from 45-70mph. even my city mileage is way better than they (re)calculate. It says a '91 325i averages 15-18mpg - but I get 12mpg on a racetrack!Easily get 24-26mpg with normal driving/some hard accelerations. 22-23mpg hard almost all every acceleration.
Commute to work every day 50 miles round on I-75 75mph - 85mph depending on traffic patterns...I have the stock '86 ETA engine/intake/exhaust other than a turner chip.
I believe if I were to drive as if I couldn't afford gas then I could get just over 30mpg. This would involve going 65 or 70 on the interstate though. I'm not sure if the "govt. MPG gauge" for the car was based on 55mph highway speeds for 30mpg. In that case I could go well over 30mpg! http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/calcu...lumn=1&id=1752
BTW this is FL driving, no hills other than overpasses.

I wish my ix could even come close to that. I'm happy at 22 with easy highways. It's stock M20 with 3.91sLeave a comment:

How are your guys's so high. The highest I've achieved is 25 mpg and that was on the 5, that was on the obc, which is pretty accurate. Cuz I normally double check it manually and its within +-.3 mpg. I'd say I average 20-21 mpg. Maybe its the way I drive, but even babying it and shooting for high mpg, I still only achieve 23-24.

28mpg after a refresh on oil, seals, on my autotragic. It's good to see my mpg needle stay between 40mp and 25mpg once the locking torque converter kicks in after 55mphLeave a comment:
