I'm also looking forwards to this car. The stated center of gravity is 18.5" off the ground, should feel amazing to drive. Downside is the compression ratio, rumored at 12.5:1 making it hard to boost the stock engine. BRZ front looks better
Drive it hard. Maintain it well.

It's cool but I'd still rather the original, the AE86.

It is underpowered by modern standards, but I bet the thing is a blast to drive... especially at 2700 lbs if those reports are accurate. With about 100 more hp/lb-ft it will be awesome.

mr2, you're right though... that comp. ratio will make big boost an issue. In that case I'd just go the route of new cams, intake/exhaust and software. I know there is power left out of a high-tech 2L boxer with direct/port injection.

            I can't wait for Toyota's ad campaign:
            "It looks fast"

seems like a good chassis for future development - 2700lbs is a featherweight by today's standards! the Subaru tractor motor doesn't excite at all, though.

This is hearsay, but my friend is obsessed with this car and apparently they made it specifically so EJ257s and the like can be dropped in.

Definitely looks like a fun little car. Transmission seems to be pretty close ratio too.

I have to say I do like the car. First likeable Toyota in at least 12 years.

Nice little car but correct me if I'm wrong aren't direct injection cars with high boost pushing super high compresion ratios? So why would this engine be hard to boost?

Oh, and it's around 2700~lb if the figures are right.
i hope the weight is around there. and i hope the size of the car is similar to the concept. just a tad bigger than a NC Miata.

and what i really hope is that the rear seats lay flat so i can fit my snowboard in there...

I like it. In a few years once Toyota updates the styling a little bit, and fixes any quirks, I think it'll be ready for me.

I like it! I think its nice to see a fresh take at something classic. I obviously haven't seen one in person but it looks like a solid car. The interior looks really plasticy though...

So, is it going to be produced as a Toyota or a Subaru?

It looks stupid 4x4 and with tucked in wheels. Im not a fan of "Stance" but I cant wait to see one sitting low, wide, and proper.

The Toyota version will be badged as a Scion, but Subaru will also have a version.

                                ^ Really?

I'm really excited about this car. I think people are going to do some really cool shit with it. RWD subaru flat-4, fuck yeah. There is a lot of aftermarket parts available for that engine platform already. I like how it kind of looks like an LFA.
