if you want perminany flat go down and get a good urathane primer from an autobody store like wesco. it'll seal and wont hold water and you'll be able to spray it w/ an adhesion promoter later if you want a real paint job. i think i paid like 90 bux for enough to do a smaller car like the e30. get a $30 harbor freight gun and your set.

As an alternative, you could roller paint the car in a nice white or red gloss. With good prep, it can come out OK, and despite what you read/see online, you only need to sand the next-to-last coat. Rustoleum is the low end option, and will not stay glossy for more than a few years. Yacht paint (Interlux Brightsides or Petit Easypoxy) at $80/gallon is much better. Personally, I much prefer single-stage (no clear coat) roller paint jobs to even professional flat or satin black.
But what do I know? I like bronzit just fine.

One Day in The City Of Orange will do it for about $500 and it will look great.
I see them do this color on many cars parked out front.88 M3 Diamantschwarz

I dont know guys.. Mine was bronzit and fucked up when i bought it so anything was better... Ive been doing rattle can for a while now. Did my e38 and now the e30 which i did twice at about a year apart. I dont mind cuz mine is a vert so its easier. Takes me about 3 hours with taping everything and about 8 to 9 cans.. When mine was satin black ( I used Krylon) i got so many people asking me where i got it painted and when i say it was rattle can they would freak out. Of course some people spray paint better than others but if your looking for budget which is what my car is then go for it. Best thing is if you ever scratch it or whatever you just dab a little and instant fix. Heres a couple of pics of when mine was satin black. Now i sprayed it grey.. Hope this helps...:Dsigpic
